The Retainer Ring is Hope's version of the newly sort after Narrow/Wide chainrings and my my, Hope certainly know how to craft a bit of aluminium into a work of art don't they! The Retainer Ring is designed to grip onto the chain which stops it from dismounting when riding over harsh and uneven terrain which theoretically means you can ditch your chain device for this simple and clean looking system. The Retainer Ring is designed to work with 9,10 and 11 speed chains and it provides an almost quiet drivetrain with less drag when paired with a derailleur which has a clutch built into it.
Hope have developed this chainring specifically for use with their new cranks. The chainring mounts directly to the crank's axle and does away with the need of a spider which means you save a whole heap of weight. The chainring features Hope's thick/thin tooth retainer system to keep your chain on and your drive nice an quiet and is constructed from CNC Machined 7075-T6 Aluminium.
