A new hub seal and bushing is supplied with Nukeproof freehubs. To avoid damage to the hub seal, turn the freehub anti-clockwise as you fit. Please Note: The new hub seal will be fitted to the freehub for transport purposes. This needs to be removed from the freehub by pressing the pawls BEFORE fitting the freehub. Options: Shimano HG Shimano Microspline SRAM XD If you have a HG / XD hub and want to convert to microspline, you will need Nukeproof's microspline conversion kit which can be found here. Check hub seal for damage, if it is damaged remove the seal 4. If seal was removed, press on new seal 5. Apply grease hub ratchet ring 6. Apply thin grease to freehub pawls & springs then push onto hub shell turning anticlockwise 7. Refit driveside end cap
This front wheel features a Nukeproof Neutron front hub that is available for both 15mm or 20mm spacings in both Boost and non-Boost. Nukeproof also sell end caps for QR (available separately). The 6066 alloy rim has been extensively to ensure it is a rim which is light enough for aggressive trail riding but strong enough for DH. Nukeproof have used J-Bend spokes meaning tensioning and spoke replacement is much simpler than using a straight pull spoke. The wheels come taped with tubeless valve installed so all you need to do is add sealant and your tyre to get a finished tubeless setup. The valve supplied is Nukeproofs Horizon valve which also has a core remover built into the cap. This valve is also compatible with tyre inserts like Nukeproof ARD. These pawls and springs come as a replacement set of six pawls and six springs, which includes the plastic cover for the Nukeproof Horizon V2 freehub. Nukeproof offers two options which are loud or quiet. This is due to Nukeproof hubs coming with the loud pawls and springs pre-installed as standard, but there is also the option for a quieter ride if you prefer it.
Ready for fast-paced and aggressive trail-riding, this rear wheel has gone through extensive testing to meet the demands of both Enduro and DH riders. It features a special blend of alloy material, which produces a hardness similar to 7-series alloy, but with the ductility and yield properties of a 6-series. This gives you the best of both worlds in terms of stiffness, strength and weight. Nukeproof has also ensured this rear wheel's rim profile is the same as the front (sold separately), the only difference is the rear has a thicker sidewall for added strength on the trails. One final highlight is it comes equipped with J-bend spokes, which means that tensioning and spoke replacement is as simple as possible. Enduro ABEC 5 Bearings After extensive testing with various brands of bearings, Nukeproof chose to use Enduro ABEC 5 bearings in this rear wheel. These bearings have the “LLU/LLB” seal type, which uses two lips that make light contact in a groove to create a labyrinth where the water or dirt has a more difficult time to penetrate. LLU seals are similar, only the contact pressure or interference fit is greater to seal better. Enduro bearings have 80% grease fill on both sides whereas most other bearings have 35% grease fill on one side. This delivers full coverage, so there are no dry areas as well as avoiding metal on metal contact or wear. This means that the axle feels tight out of the box and after a couple of rides it will become free. Nukeproof Horizon V2 Hub This MTB rear wheel features a revised Nukeproof Horizon V2 hub that now has 102 points of engagement and comes in a range of freehub options. Freehubs are also available separately and easily changeable if you choose upgrade your drivetrain in the future. Nukeproof's 142mm hub can be converted to 135mm QR and the 148mm HG / XD hub can be converted to 141mm using end caps. The hub has also been machined to remove excess material and make it as strong and light as possible. Nukeproof has fitted these hubs with our louder pawls & springs, this gives the wheel a nice buzz as you head down the trail. If you prefer the quiet life, you can get the quieter ones which are available separately. What's Included?
