Nukeproof Reactor 290 RS Carbon Bike (X01 Eagle)By combining its advanced UD woven carbon fibre frame with RockShox Lyric forks, a RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate rear shock and a SRAM AXS Eagle 12-Speed Wireless drivetrain, the Reactor 290 RS model is equipped to dominate any trail.SRAM AXS Eagle Wireless Gears and DT Swiss WheelsFrom concept through to design, Kinematics, geometry and specification, the RS model is designed from the ground up to be the ultimate aggressive trail bike. It's the hooligan option in the Reactor range, with a host of upgrades to make it burlier than the rest. It features a RockShox Lyrik Ultimate RC2 forks (150mm) up front, a RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate RCT rear shock and Nukeproof's award-winning carbon handlebars. There's also 4 Pot SRAM Code RSC disc brakes (with sintered pads), a SRAM ASX Eagle 12-Speed wireless drivetrain with Carbon X1 Cranks and DT Swiss XM1700 Spline 30 wheelset.Frame Construction:To optimise the weight, strength and stiffness, the Reactor Carbon frame features a full UD woven carbon fibre frameset (Including chain and seat stays). It is available for 27.5” or 29” wheel sizes. These are two totally different, compromise-free frames that were designed and developed at the same time. Each frame is simply tailored around each wheel size.Speed or play: which do you value more? The manoeuvrability of 27.5” or the raw speed of a 29”?Adjustable Geometry:All Reactor frames feature a “flip chip” to adjust the geometry from “Trail” to “Rail mode”.Trail - As the name suggests, this setting is best suited for trail riding. It is for riders who get as much enjoyment from the climb as the descents.Rail - The Rail setting turns the Reactor into a corner shredder, dropping the bottom bracket 6mm and slackening the head angle by half a degree. It is there to maximise the descending capabilities.Suspension Design:To ensure the bike could climb as well as it descends, we designed the 4 bar horst linkage to have higher levels of anti-squat for climbing gears but lower levels when you drop down the cassette. This means that the bike can behave itself on the climbs but when you get it up to speed, it turns into a trail hooligan. The combination of low anti-squat and progressive rate give ultimate small bump compliance (removes rough trail and root chatter) with good mid stroke support for cornering/pumping and end stroke progression for aggressive riding. Balanced anti-rise figures allow the Reactor some squat when braking hard, maintaining rider position and providing a good amount of pressure through the tyre to ensure traction. The Reactor is designed to reward the rider and ensure you get that stoke factor in on any ride.Features: Frame: Nukeproof Reactor 290 Carbon, 130mm rear travel, UD woven Carbon Fibre frame, internal cable routing, ISCG 05 mounts, Enduro bearings, Threaded 73mm BB, Boost 148mm rear axle spacing, 3D contoured rubber frame protection Fork: RockShox Lyrik Ultimate Charger 2.1 RC2 150mm, 42mm Offset, BOOST, Debonair, Gloss Red Shock: RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate RCT, Custom 320 tune, 210x50mm, Bearing End, 1x bottomless token fitted Headset: Nukeproof, 44-56 IITS Stem: Nukeproof Horizon, 45mm, Black Handlebars: Nukeproof Horizon Carbon V2, 25mm Rise, Width: S: 780mm; M: 780mm; L: 800mm; XL: 800mm Grips: Nukeproof Sam Hill Signature Shifter: SRAM AXS Eagle Wireless 12-Speed, Red Crankset: SRAM X1 Carbon Eagle 12-Speed, 170mm, 30T, B148, DUB Chain: SRAM GX Eagle 12-Speed Cassette: SRAM X01 Eagle 12-Speed, CS XG1295 Eagle 10-52T Rear Derailleur: SRAM AXS X01 Eagle Wireless 12-Speed, Red Brakes: SRAM Code RSC hydraulic disc brakes, sintered pads Front Rotor: SRAM Centreline, 200mm Rear Rotor: SRAM Centreline, 180mm Front Wheel: DT Swiss XM1700 Spline 30, 29", 6 Bolt, 110x15mm Rear Wheel: DT Swiss XM1700 Spline 30, 29", 6 Bolt, XD Driver, 148x12mm Tyres: Front: Maxxis Assegai 29x2.5" WT 3C MaxxTerra/EXO+/TR; Rear: Maxxis Dissector 29x2.4" WT 3C MaxxTerra/EXO+/TR Seatpost: Bikeyoke Revive Stealth with Triggy Long Lever; M:160mm drop; L:185mm drop; XL:213mm drop Weight: 13.86kg (Medium, Tubeless)Please Note: Due to severe delays in the bicycle supply chain, Nukeproof has been forced to make some alterations to the specification of the component parts supplied with this bicycle. The Trail setting is best suited for pumping and carving your rhythm and style into the mountainside and still caters for rides who love the climb as much as the descent. On the other hand, the Rail setting turns the Reactor into an adrenaline-fuelled gravity tamer. Dropping the bottom bracket height by 6mm and slackening the head angle by half a degree, these changes give this Reactor greater stability and control when the trail leans downhill towards vertical Nukeproof 4-Bar Horst Linkage Suspension Design: Ensuring the bike can climb as well as it descends, Nukeproof focussed on fine-tuning their 4-Bar Horst linkage suspension setup to give higher levels of anti-squat performance when higher up the cassette in the climbing gears, but also to deliver greater trail-gobbling performance when you drop down the cassette and begin descending the mountain. This means that the bike behaves itself on the climbs and grips with unprecedented traction and efficiency when making your way back towards sea-level. When you get it up to speed and drop a few gears to carry momentum, this bike turns into a trail hooligan and helps you carve the trail with style. The combination of low anti-squat and progressive suspension-rate give it the ultimate in small bump compliance (removes rough trail and root chatter) with good mid-stroke support for cornering/pumping and end stroke progression for aggressive riding. Nukeproof Megawatt 297 Comp Alloy Bike (Deore)If you're looking for a durable, stylish and high-performance electric bike (E-Bike) that is designed to tackle the toughest of trails, then take a look at the Nukeproof Megawatt 297 Comp. This is an electrically powered mountain bike that's fitted with Shimano STEPS EP8 electric motor drive system and a Shimano Deore 12-Speed groupset to power you across the mountain range. It also features a wide-ranging 10-51-tooth cassette, SRAM DB8 hydraulic disc brakes and a Brand-X Ascend internal dropper seatpost.Nukeproof has equipped it with a mixed-wheel-size platform (29" front wheel / 27.5" rear wheel) that offers a balance of rolling speed, agility and control. The wheels used are Sun-Ringle Duroc SD37 Comp wheels wrapped in high-grip Maxxis Assegai Wide Trail Tubeless Ready tyres.Since 2009 the Nukeproof Mega has been on a journey of constant development. From iteration to iteration, small incremental improvements gradually add up to become today’s thoroughbred Enduro race bike: The Mega V4. All things considered; you could forgive the team for resting on their laurels. Bike design and technology must move fast to keep up with the evolving demands of our customers. If you don’t keep up, then you get left behind. The Megawatt is Nukeproof’s first E-Bike, and it has won over the media with its agile handling, impressive suspension and balanced geometry. The top priority for Nukeproof was to partner with the right specialist; a brand that could offer leading-edge technology to help create ultra-competitive products whilst having the infrastructure in place to support customers during ownership.Shimano STEPS EP8 Electric Motor Drive UnitUsing the latest Shimano STEPS EP8 system, the Megawatt has the torque, range, and performance to wear the Mega name. The Megawatt was developed alongside the latest Mega V4. This ensured that the geometry, packaging and suspension were optimised to perform and held no compromises. The Megawatt exceeds expectations with its descending performance and benefits from the combination of awesome geometry and the Shimano EP8 assistance to climb back to the top for more.Mullet Wheel Standard: 29" Front and 27.5" Rear WheelWhilst humans may not have changed size much in recent years; the bikes they choose to ride most certainly have. To ensure a perfectly dialled fit we now offer the 297 bikes in S, M, L, XL and XXL.With a 29” wheel up front, maximises grip and rolling efficiency whilst the 27.5” wheel out back, allows the bike to run shorter chainstays to ensure nimble handling and maximise manoeuvrability. The rear chainstays also benefit from a 3D moulded chain guard to keep the frame protected and running quiet allowing you to concentrate on the trail ahead.Modern Enduro Inspired Race GeometryLower, longer, steeper and slacker. Our new geometry is now designed around the saddle offset for each size to optimise seated weight distribution. This results in steeper seat angles across the board but especially on larger sizes for taller riders. This in turn results in longer reach figures to ensure a comfortable cockpit of each size. To further aid the perfect fit we have also used shorter seat tubes which are designed to maximise seat post insertion depths. Finally, all new Mega bikes are now designed to use short offset forks to further improve both climbing and descending capabilities.Progressive, Supple and Supportive 4-Bar Horst Suspension PlatformTo step-change the Mega’s suspension design we went back to the drawing board and started afresh. We redesigned the Mega 4 bar horst linkage to be super supple over small bumps, progressive and supportive throughout the mid-stoke for support when pedalling, cornering and pumping, with increased end stroke leverage to allow more tuning options with volume spacers. The new kinematic is designed to have higher levels of anti-squat for climbing gears but this reduces as you drop down the cassette. The result is a bike that is more confidence-inspiring everywhere on the hill. It behaves itself on the climbs; yet can still be thrashed through the roughest and most technical terrain on the way back down. The new Mega also has a wide SAG range (30%-35%) to allow you; the rider, to tune the characteristics of the bike to your preferences.Durable and Lightweight Alloy Frame with Internal BatteryThe Megawatt was designed from the outset to optimise the performance of the Shimano EP8 Motor and battery. Crafted from hydroformed 6061 aluminium, the Megawatt shares some characteristics and tube shapes with its Mega sibling but features several notable differences. An all-new one-piece cast Bottom Bracket shell has been engineered to house the Shimano Steps EP8 Motor. The downtube to has been designed to maximise strength and rigidity whilst providing easy access to remove the internal battery for charging or transportation. The Megawatt is offered in three specifications; Comp, Elite or Factory, to suit your riding needs and budget. Please see individual specs for full details. The Factory and Elite use a 630Wh Shimano battery, whilst the Comp uses a 504Wh battery. Both battery sizes will fit in each model with a secure and easy-to-flip mount system in all models. All bikes include a Shimano battery charger and adaptor to allow both on-bike and off-the-bike charging using either the Euro or UK charging cables included.Internal Frame Cable RoutingFeaturing entry points in the frame's downtube, the downtube of the frame has internal routing for the dropper cable, rear brake line, SD50 wires and gearing. This ensures a more user-friendly E-Bike for general maintenance and upgrading of components. The Megawatt: A Mega V4 with an engine. Designed so you can maximise the amount of time spent descending by getting you back to the top faster, again and again (and again). Please Note: This E-Bike (electric bike) has a max assisted speed of 25 km/h / 15.5 mphPlease Also Note: The product images shown here are representative only, please reference the description for updated cable routing.Features Frame: Nukeproof Megawatt 297 Alloy, 170mm Travel, custom triple butted hydro-formed tube set, internal Battery, Internal cable routing through downtube, Enduro Bearings, Boost 148mm rear axle spacing, 3D contoured Rubber frame protection, Shimano STEPS compatible. From concept through to design, Kinematics, geometry and specification, the RS model is designed from the ground up to be the ultimate aggressive trail bike. There's also 4 Pot SRAM Code RSC disc brakes (with sintered pads), a SRAM ASX Eagle 12-Speed wireless drivetrain with Carbon X1 Cranks and DT Swiss XM1700 Spline 30 wheelset. Frame Construction: To optimise the weight, strength and stiffness, the Reactor Carbon frame features a full UD woven carbon fibre frameset (Including chain and seat stays). It is available for 27.5” or 29” wheel sizes. These are two totally different, compromise-free frames that were designed and developed at the same time. Each frame is simply tailored around each wheel size. Speed or play: which do you value more? The manoeuvrability of 27.5” or the raw speed of a 29”? Adjustable Geometry: All Reactor frames feature a “flip chip” to adjust the geometry from “Trail” to “Rail mode”. Trail – As the name suggests, this setting is best suited for trail riding. It is for riders who get as much enjoyment from the climb as the descents. Rail - The Rail setting turns the Reactor into a corner shredder, dropping the bottom bracket 6mm and slackening the head angle by half a degree. It is there to maximise the descending capabilities. Suspension Design: To ensure the bike could climb as well as it descends, Nukeproof designed the 4 bar horst linkage to have higher levels of anti-squat for climbing gears but lower levels when you drop down the cassette. This is an electrically powered mountain bike that's fitted with Shimano STEPS EP8 electric motor drive system and a Shimano Deore 12-Speed groupset to power you across the mountain range. It also features a wide-ranging 10-51-tooth cassette, SRAM DB8 hydraulic disc brakes and a Brand-X Ascend internal dropper seatpost. Nukeproof has equipped it with a mixed-wheel-size platform (29"" front wheel / 27.5"" rear wheel) that offers a balance of rolling speed, agility and control. The wheels used are Sun-Ringle Duroc SD37 Comp wheels wrapped in high-grip Maxxis Assegai Wide Trail Tubeless Ready tyres. Since 2009 the Nukeproof Mega has been on a journey of constant development. The top priority for Nukeproof was to partner with the right specialist; a brand that could offer leading-edge technology to help create ultra-competitive products whilst having the infrastructure in place to support customers during ownership. Shimano STEPS EP8 Electric Motor Drive Unit Using the latest Shimano STEPS EP8 system, the Megawatt has the torque, range, and performance to wear the Mega name. The Megawatt was developed alongside the latest Mega V4. This ensured that the geometry, packaging and suspension were optimised to perform and held no compromises. The Megawatt exceeds expectations with its descending performance and benefits from the combination of awesome geometry and the Shimano EP8 assistance to climb back to the top for more. Mullet Wheel Standard: 29" Front and 27.5" Rear Wheel Whilst humans may not have changed size much in recent years; the bikes they choose to ride most certainly have. To ensure a perfectly dialled fit we now offer the 297 bikes in S, M, L, XL and XXL. With a 29” wheel up front, maximises grip and rolling efficiency whilst the 27.5” wheel out back, allows the bike to run shorter chainstays to ensure nimble handling and maximise manoeuvrability. The rear chainstays also benefit from a 3D moulded chain guard to keep the frame protected and running quiet allowing you to concentrate on the trail ahead. Modern Enduro Inspired Race Geometry Lower, longer, steeper and slacker. Finally, all new Mega bikes are now designed to use short offset forks to further improve both climbing and descending capabilities. Progressive, Supple and Supportive 4-Bar Horst Suspension Platform To step-change the Mega’s suspension design we went back to the drawing board and started afresh. The new Mega also has a wide SAG range (30%-35%) to allow you; the rider, to tune the characteristics of the bike to your preferences. Durable and Lightweight Alloy Frame with Internal Battery The Megawatt was designed from the outset to optimise the performance of the Shimano EP8 Motor and battery. All bikes include a Shimano battery charger and adaptor to allow both on-bike and off-the-bike charging using either the Euro or UK charging cables included. Internal Frame Cable Routing Featuring entry points in the frame's downtube, the downtube of the frame has internal routing for the dropper cable, rear brake line, SD50 wires and gearing. This ensures a more user-friendly E-Bike for general maintenance and upgrading of components. The Megawatt: A Mega V4 with an engine. Designed so you can maximise the amount of time spent descending by getting you back to the top faster, again and again (and again). Over the years we have tested a lot of e bikes but there was never any bike that truly stole our team’s heart. It took us a while to figure out what kind of bike we want to make for NS.We ask ourselves what makes an e-bikes great? Well, if we put the motor aside for a moment, it all comes down to the bike’s geometry and suspension, and these are the main points that we focused on. We looked for a geometry that works best on a motor assisted bike – and it’s not necessarily the same as on our “analog” products. The geometry must be complemented by suspension that works perfectly on a bike that is inherently heavier than a normal mtb, and the tires, brakes and cockpit all need to have more of a “moto” character. Back to the motor: there are no “bad” drive units on the market these days. What we think is critical for our customers is reliability and easily accessible service if something goes wrong. That’s why we chose to work with the Shimano. Our brands share similar values and Shimano offers excellent customer service around the globe. Everyone loved the new EP8 motor from Shimano. It kicks in seamlessly and its weight and size has been reduced significantly. It’s almost 400g lighter than its predecessor, the e8000. The second important feature is that Shimano cut drag by 50%. It’s now almost comparable to a muscle powered drivetrain. One of the key things we noticed is that the ns crew doesn’t dig wimpy rides. So, we made sure that the e-fine is a big, burly machine. It’s fitted with the excellent Rockshox fork with 170mm of travel, powerful brakes and aggressive tires. Other essential features of the drive unit include improved ground clearance, low Q-factor and new short cranks (160mm). All this means that we could make the BB really low without fear of pedal strikes. Just in case, we included an option to adjust the heigh of the bb to suit personal preferences). So, have we succeeded in making an e bike that all the guys in our team would love? Well, even the most die-hard dirt jumpers in our company are lining up to borrow a prototype for a weekend of shredding, which is something that we haven’t seen with other e bikes that have been laying around the office. Our team riders love the e fine, our close friends who would never consider going electric are changing their minds. Honestly, we believe we have achieved our goal.
