A variant of the external bottom bracket, this SRAM BB86 GXP PressFit bottom bracket cuts weight and provides easier installation by allowing you to press the bearing cups into the frame instead of threading them. There's no change to the crank - spindle length and diameter remain the same. Technologies: GXP: Other systems rely on side-loaded bearings to eliminate play, causing bearing wear. GXP captures the left-side bearing between the spindle and the left crankarm and allows the drive-side bearing to float axially on the spindle. There's no need to side-load bearings during adjustment. No excess wear and much simpler installation. Just tighten to the proper specifications and you're ready to roll, worry-free. GXP's two bicycle-specific cartridge bearings and eight seals ensure a smooth, long-lasting ride. SRAM's Gutter seal system takes a two-stage approach in directing contaminates away from the bearings providing longer bearing life. As durable as SRAM's 24mm bottom bracket systems, this model allows for a low-maintenance, high performance rotation of your crankset.
Featuring an integrated seal that’s pre-assembled into the cups, SRAM’s PressFit 30 bottom bracket is designed to keep out dirt and water that could cause increased wear and tear. Simple to fit, it is designed for road and mountain bike (MTB) frames with bottom bracket shells with a 46mm inner diameter and cranksets with 30mm diameters. The key difference with PressFit 30 is how the bearings are fitted into the frame. Bearings are housed in nylon cups which will be pressed into the frames bottom bracket shell. This bottom bracket is designed for 30mm spindle cranksets. Frames will need a 46mm inner diameter bottom bracket shell to accommodate this system. PressFit 30 for road will require a 68mm wide shell while PressFit 30 for MTB will require a 73mm wide shell. When designing the SRAM PressFit 30 bottom bracket, the brand set out with the aim of combining the best of BB30 technologies with the best features of the Pressfit standard.
