Fast, fun and versatile is what the HYB range of leisure and fitness hybrids is all about. Frames take inspiration from our SLR road range, but with an extra bit of stability baked in. Puncture-protected 35mm tyres balance low rolling resistance with a plush ride and offer enough grip for light off-roading too. Our new one-piece integrated handlebar and stem adds a clean aesthetic to the look and feel, while the ergonomic grips help to reduce numbness and long ride discomfort. The HYB 8.9 is our highest specification hybrid in the range, using the same triple-butted 6061 X7 Aluminium frame and C7 Carbon fork as the 8.8, but offering upgraded gearing, brakes, saddle and tyres. If high speeds both up and downhill are your priority, the HYB 8.9 is the bike to pick. That isn’t to say comfort and practicality have been sacrificed though. Shimano’s Deore 12 speed mountain bike gears utilise a colossal range 10-51 tooth cassette, adapted for hybrid use with a 44 tooth FSA Gossamer 1X chainset. This combination offers ratios for both spinning up steep hills, and a big top gear for high speed cruising and descending, without significant gaps in between. These ratios give the same range as a 50/34t road compact chainset with an 11-32 cassette but without the complexity of a front derailleur. Simply shift the rear mech up and down to make things easier or harder.Shimano also takes care of braking, with their MT400 hydraulic disc brakes. These offer phenomenal stopping power and control in all conditions. 35mm Schwalbe Marathon Racer tyres provide low rolling resistance with high puncture protection and grip, perfect for rough roads or dry towpaths and bridleways. At the front of the bike is our 1-piece HYB integrated handlebar and stem, offering a gentle backsweep and rise to put your wrists in a neutral position, with adjustable ergonomic grips to keep hands happy too. Adding further comfort is a Selle Royal Lookin Gel saddle, with reinforced side panels to protect against scuffs and scrapes.HighlightsTriple butted 6061 X7 Aluminium frame and full carbon tapered fork,Wide range 1X12 gears give a huge range with simple to use single shifter,1 Piece bar and stem with adjustable ergonomic grips,Selle Royal Lookin Gel saddle is soft but supportive for excellent comfort,Mudguard and pannier rack mounts make year round riding and commuting practical.
The Boardman MHT range is designed to blur the boundaries between cross-country and trail riding, offering confidence-inspiring handling and control when the trail heads downhill, but without compromising speed and fun-factor on mellower routes.Whether you’re planning to blast around a trail centre or cover big distances on an epic day out in the countryside, the geometry and design of the lightweight alloy frames of the MHT range have got it covered. Slacker head angles and longer reach compared to a traditional cross country bike, combined with 120mm air-sprung forks deliver great stability and traction. Light and efficient smooth-weld alloy frames with wide-range 1X drivetrains across the range mean climbing isn’t a chore either.MHT 8.9The MHT 8.9 is our top of the line hardtail with carefully chosen specification to give maximum control, speed and fun on the trails. A lightweight 6061 T6 aluminium frame is at the core of the bike, with SRAM’s 12-speed SX Eagle drivetrain giving a huge spread of gears to cover steep ups and downs. SRAM also cover braking duties with their powerful Level T hydraulic disc brakes.A 120mm air sprung RockShox Reba fork is supple and well-damped, keeping your bars level and your front tyre pressed into the ground over rough trails. 29x2.25” Vittoria Barzo TLR tyres are an aggressive cross country tread with an advanced, Graphene 2.0 infused compound that rolls fast and grips well, and are tubeless-ready, offering a simple upgrade route to ditch tubes forever (tubeless conversion kit required separately).Key Features:Lightweight 6061 aluminium frame with Boost spacing and 12mm thru-axle,SRAM SX Eagle 12 speed drivetrain with a wide range 11-50t cassette,SRAM Level T hydraulic disc brakes,RockShox Reba RL 120mm Boost thru-axle fork,Vittoria Barzo TLR Graphene 2.0 tubeless-ready tyres.
The ADV 8.9 might just be the best value for money bike we have ever made, given that it’s essentially 2 bikes for the price of 1. It’s equally at home exploring hidden bridleways and fire roads as it is clocking up miles on potholed commutes or long sportives.A triple-butted 6061 aluminium frame with hidden welds, and a full carbon fork with tapered steerer, with thru-axles at both ends, make up the heart of the bike. Blending comfort and control without compromising efficiency or sacrificing precise handling – this is an ideal platform to build the perfect all-road bike around. The ADV takes inspiration from the MTB world with its geometry – trail bikes have become more capable as top tubes have got longer and slacker, and this is passed onto the ADV. We’ve kept the top tubes long and slackened the head angle versus our road bikes, which gives a confidence-inspiring ride on loose surfaces, but without compromising body position for road riding. A slightly taller front end and a shortened stem keep the bars close to hand and sharpen up steering response.Shimano’s 2x10 speed GRX adventure bike groupset has a wide range of gears with a 48-32 FSA chainset and 11-36 cassette, perfect for steep climbs. The GRX hydraulic brake levers are designed to offer better power braking from the tops and are fitted to a flared handlebar that is wider at the bottom than the top, giving great control when you’re descending on the drops. With 38mm Schwalbe G-One tubeless-ready tyres, there’s plenty of fast-rolling grip available too.Completing the package are mounts for full-length mudguards and a pannier rack, adding the versatility for commuting, touring or winter road riding on top of the off-road smiles the ADV 8.9 delivers.Light but strong aluminium frame and tapered carbon fork give great comfort and control on and off-road,10 Speed Shimano GRX groupset is designed specifically for adventure riding with wide gear range and a “clutch” rear mech to limit chain slap,Powerful Shimano Hydraulic disc brakes ensure maximum control in all conditions,Schwalbe G-One All Round 38mm tyres combine off-road grip, low rolling resistance and added comfort – perfect for exploring anywhere,Boardman ADV wheels and Schwalbe tyres are tubeless-ready – easy to upgrade to run without tubes,Mudguard and pannier rack mounts offer additional flexibility.
The original SLR 8.9 Carbon was our most popular carbon road bike, and for good reason. We think the light, stiff and comfortable carbon frame designed with aerodynamic tube profiles and features is a perfect platform for all-round road riding, and the reviewers agreed with us. For most bike brands, 4.5 out of 5 reviews and comments like “Blimey, what a corker!” (road.cc) would be a reason to kick back and celebrate a job well done. However, at Boardman, we are always looking for ways we can push our bikes to the next level, and this is what we have done for the new SLR 8.9 Carbon. One of the only criticisms we could level at the old bike was the 10 speed gears – functional, but a little heavy and unrefined. With that in mind, we’ve upgraded the shifting to Shimano’s 11 speed R7000 105. Offering smooth gear changes, reduced weight, ergonomic design and all the trickle-down technology from Shimano’s flagship Dura-Ace groupset, 105 is a fantastic performer. Not only have we upgraded the bike’s gearing – but we’ve also worked with expert bike fitters to ensure the touchpoints on the bike are going to suit riders even better than before.FRAMESET:The new SLR 8.9c frame and fork use the same aerodynamic design and geometry as the top of the range SLR 9.6 and so delivers outstanding performance. The dropped seat stays and an integrated seat clamp help reduce drag and combine with carefully designed carbon fibre layup to deliver all day long comfort. This isn’t achieved at the expense of speed though. Using CFD and wind tunnel testing, our tube profiles deliver a significant aero boost compared to previous frames, and a stiff bottom bracket and light overall weight mean that the bike responds instantly when you put the power down. With clearance for up to 28mm tyres and hidden mudguard mounts, the SLR 8.9 Carbon can turn its hand to any type of road riding, whatever the weather.CONTACT POINTS:Working with Chris Boardman, data from hundreds of bike fits and insight from bike fit experts, we have made simple changes to the contact points of the SLR range. Using advanced pressure mapping and real-world testing we’ve shown that the Boardman SLR saddle will provide long-ride comfort for the majority of people. Bar width and crank length are also reduced vs previous bikes to make sure they are suited to the fit needs of real cyclists, not just based on old traditions. These changes also reduce the rider’s frontal area, which has been wind tunnel tested to reduce drag, meaning less effort required for the same speed.Key Features: Shimano 105 11 speed shifters and derailleurs ensure crisp and easy gear changes, A compact 50/34 chainset with 11-30 cassette offers a wide spread of gears for climbing and descending, Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Graphene 2.0 tyres combine great grip with puncture protection and low rolling resistance, Boardman SLR Wheels are tubeless-ready, so can be easily upgraded to run without tubes, Tektro R315 long drop brakes give clearance for up to 28mm tyres, or to run mudguards with 25mm.

The SLR 8.9 Disc brings the fantastic ride quality and aerodynamic performance of the SLR 9 Series bikes down to an even more affordable price point. Using the same geometry and frame profiles as the SLR 9 Series, but with our C7 carbon fibre, the SLR 8.9 Disc is a fast and comfortable all-rounder, with Shimano’s excellent 105 hydraulic groupset. At the heart of the bike is a light and efficient C7 carbon frame with tube profiles developed in CFD and the Wind Tunnel to keep aerodynamic drag to the minimum. This means going faster for the same effort, what’s not to like? We haven’t forgotten about comfort too, it’s an important part of enjoying the ride, and a comfortable rider is a faster one. Dropped seat stays and a slim-bladed carbon fork help absorb bumps and road buzz, but a tapered head tube and fork steerer keep handling sharp and precise.Shimano’s R7020 105 Hydraulic groupset delivers smooth and quiet gear shifting, with an excellent range of gears courtesy of the 50-34t compact 105 chainset and 11-30t cassette. This is enough range for super-steep climbs and fast descents alike. This is where the hydraulic disc brakes come into their own, with much greater braking power and control vs a rim braked bike. Tyres are also vitally important for control, and 28mm Vittoria Rubino Pro tyres with Graphene 2.0 compound offer great grip and puncture resistance while rolling quickly too.CONTACT POINTS:Working with Chris Boardman, data from hundreds of bike fits and insight from bike fit experts, we have made simple changes to the contact points of the SLR range.
