After years of product conceptualisation and design development we welcome the first ORRO electric bike into their Terra family. Early in the design process the ORRO bike team homed in on gravel riding as the basis for electric development. The aim was to enable everyday cyclists with the ability to take on more mileage and make it easier to tackle tough off-road climbs, such as those in the native South Downs testing ground. Terra E marks a considered entry from ORRO into the empowering world of lightweight electrically assisted bikes.Terra E has an integrated design and user experience. Each of the five colour coded power modes are easily selected while riding using a backlit button on the top tube. The clean lines of this lightweight carbon fibre gravel bike belie its electrified nature. A svelte down tube hides the 250-Wh battery of the FSA System HM1. And, with an optional range extender cell which is carried in a bottle cage, the capacity for power can be doubled. A mobile application wirelessly interacts with the system, adding the ability for riders to review battery performance and customise the settings.In developing a hub motor driven e-bike ORRO have been able to keep the horizontal distance between the pedals, known as 'Q Factor', the same as typical non-electric bikes. This gives Terra E a riding stance and pedalling characteristics that will feel familiar to all cyclists. The frame is designed from the ground up for System HM1 motor and battery units. These components can deliver a maximum 42Nm of torque and a range of around 50 miles. Integrated torque and speed sensors provide natural feeling assistance across each power setting. Complete system weight is 3.98Kg.

Our wind-tunnel proven tube profiles minimise separation of airflow, resulting in lower aerodynamic drag.The SLR’s geometry strikes a balance between a long and low race position and an upright, endurance set up. The frame itself has been designed with comfort in mind to. Thin, dropped seat stays and a slim legged fork absorb road imperfections without compromising on the lateral stiffness required to corner quickly and confidently.The SLR focusses on efficiency. Using our C10 carbon fibre blend, high-modulus fibres are used in key areas to increase the strength to weight ratio. Deep, box-section chainstays, an oversized bottom bracket and dropped seat stays combine in a compact, stiff rear triangle, maximising power transfer.With 28mm tyres and hidden mudguard mounts, the SLR 9 Series bikes are also practical for year-round riding too.SpecificationsThe SLR 9.6 uses Shimano’s latest 12 speed R8100 series Ultegra Di2 groupset. Perfect shifts even under load combine with powerful and easily controlled braking to give a truly premium ride experience. A 50/34t compact chainset combined with a 11-30t cassette offers a broad range of gears to cover off steep climbing, flat land sprinting and fast descending. Tyres are Vittoria’s pro-level Corsa Graphene 2.0 in 28mm width with outstandingly low rolling resistance and excellent cornering grip.CONTACT POINTS:Working with Chris Boardman, data from hundreds of bike fits and insight from bike fit experts, we have made simple changes to the contact points of the SLR range. Using advanced pressure mapping and real-world testing we’ve shown that the Boardman SLR saddle will provide long-ride comfort for the majority of people. Bar width and crank length are also reduced vs previous bikes to make sure they are suited to the fit needs of real cyclists, not just based on old traditions.
