We think it makes little sense if parents first have to make the bike they have just bought roadworthy for their kids. With the Acid 240 Allroad, we therefore offer a model that can do everything - and has everything. In other words, various accessories that you often need in everyday life: mudguards for bad weather (and clean clothes), an LED light system for "seeing and being seen", a power modulator on the front wheel that regulates excessive or abrupt braking so that the kids do not Make an involuntary take-off over the handlebars, and a side stand so that you no longer have to lean the bike against trees, park benches or house walls. As a performance finish, we installed a Suntour suspension fork, skilfully erased the unevenness of the ground on rough ground, and a wide 7-speed gearshift, which changes easily and smoothly from gear to gear. Excellent!
When our engineers set out to design the Acid 240, they began with the same kind of heat-treated 6061 aluminium tubes that we use in our adult frames. The result is a frame that's every bit as durable as a full-size mountain bike, but with the right weight and proportions for a child. Mechanically formed tubes mean that it's bang up to date in terms of technology, too. The geometry is tailored to the needs of young CUBE riders, so it's stable and easily controllable, with a low top tube to improve confidence and safety. And, because we understand that accidents will happen, we made the derailleur hanger easily replaceable so that a knock or crash needn't result in an expensive repair.The Acid 240 Disc is the bike that all youngsters will want. Light, strong and equipped with everything they'll need to help them keep up with their friends and family, it's got all the features you'll find on our adult mountain bikes. Hydraulic disc brakes are powerful and easy to control, with levers designed specifically for small hands. The Suntour suspension fork improves comfort and control on rough surfaces, and a wide-ranging 7-speed Shimano transmission gives a huge range of gears for tackling any terrain. From the heat-treated, mechanically formed 6061 aluminium tubes to the child-tailored geometry, our engineering team lavished the same attention to detail and perfectionist approach on this bike as they do on every bike they design. The low top tube improves confidence and safety, while a replaceable gear hanger makes the inevitable mishaps and knocks less costly. And, as you'd expect, the entire bike has passed our stringent in-house safety tests with flying colours. With a bike like this, there's nothing standing in the way of epic off-road adventures for the little mountain bikers in your family...
Simplicity can also be a virtue. We listened carefully to what aspiring young mountain bikers really expect from their bike - low weight, safe handling, reliable components - and based our development of the Acid 240 SL on these principles. The result is a bike with a light aluminum fork, light, easy-to-use rim brakes and a wide range of 9-speed gears with which even steep climbs can be mastered without any problems. In addition, there is a slimmer handlebar with handles that even small children's hands can optimally grip and keep the bike safely on course on all trails.
