Taking the fantastic road performance of the GP4000 tyre and making it even better, this Grand Prix 5000 model utilises modern tyre technology to deliver their best road tyre yet. Constructed from Continental's legendary BlackChili compound, unparalleled grip and balance is assured, with strenuous lab and road testing showing tangible advantages to the modern cyclist. Ultra-Performance Road Race Tyres Equipped with other stunning advances including it's impact-absorbing Active Comfort build, a Lazer Grip micro profile along the outer edge for improved cornering grip and Vectran Breaker puncture protection - performance, rolling and reliability is taken to new levels by this unrivalled update. Sealing Effectiveness and Reliability The LifeLine Tubeless Tyre Sealant is a top of the range tubeless application that can effectively seal holes and gashes in the tyre up to 5mm. This unique sealant features a blend of a DuPont Kevlar additive for additional sealing effectiveness and reliability. This fast-acting sealant is non-toxic, will not freeze or boil (tested to -17°C and +45°C) and is fully compatible with alloy, steel and composite wheel/rim constructions. Technologies: BlackChili Compound: Continental refines newly developed synthetic rubbers with natural rubber with the proven high-performance tread compound. The GP5000 uses these rubbers with special nanometric carbon soot particles, which are optimised in shape and surface properties for best uses for the intended tyre. Tyres with BlackChili Compound reach an unprecedented level of performance. Compared to the previous best Activated Silica Compound, BlackChili tyres have 26% less rolling resistance, a 30% higher friction value (grip) and a 5% increase in mileage. Vectran Breaker: Vectran is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fibre from a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid-crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran is spun from melted liquid polymer Vectra and processed further to a multi-strand thread. Spider silk, like Vectran, has an enormous tear resistance at a very low weight – exactly the right properties to process into a premium Continental bike tyre as a puncture protection insert. A Vectran Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than the comparable nylon breaker. Vectran Breaker does not adversely affect the rolling resistance. Active Comfort Technology: The revolutionary approach in cycling. Embedded in the tire construction the Active Comfort Technology absorbs vibrations and smoothens your ride. Lazer Grip: Lazer Grip, to make you one with the road. The lasered micro profile structure expands over the tire’s shoulder and provides outstanding cornering.
Whether you're clocking up the miles with your local club or exploring new routes on your own, this road bike tyre is designed for maximum performance. It features Continental's PureGrip compound, which is based on activated silica compounds to give you performance-level results. Delivering outstanding grip as well as cross-country properties, this tyre is the perfect all-rounders for riders who want an upgrade that's designed for going the extra mile. The Advanced PureGrip Compound Based on activated silica compounds, this technology was originally intended as a performance level compound, but after intensive development at our Korbach Research and Development Department Facility, an advanced new compound with outstanding grip and cross-country properties was developed. This new rubber mix, given the self-explanatory name “PureGrip”, is ranked just behind our BlackChili Compound and is being used in our performance products both in the road and mountain bike sectors. Whilst providing great grip, it is also long-lasting and highly durable – both characteristics of Continental tires, which are exclusively manufactured in the factory in Hefei (Asia).

Gravity Arc Tread Design: The new design of the Vapor uses even the space in between the lugs to increase traction with 3D faces enlarging the surface of the tread. The surfaces are determined by free falling u-bends or Arcs. The shape comes naturally, and at a minimum material input to keep weight low. The contact patch or "footprint" of the tyre to the ground gets bigger, therefore improving traction. Additionally, the Arcs/u-bends reinforce the tread blocks which helps the tyre hook up more effectively. The lugs flex less under load, so steering response is improved as the shoulder knobs do not squirm during cornering. This is because the stresses are dissipated over a wider surface area. The tops of the tread blocks are sharp & hard and cut through wet & loose surfaces more rapidly. Additionally, they hold very well on hard stony ground to give a more responsive ride. The edges of the lugs are rectangular to the incoming traction & steering forces - this way the lugs can take the forces and deliver them directly to the ground without braking loose. The shoulder edges (left) run with the rotation for fast & secure cornering The centre tread edges (below left) run at 90° to rotation for perfect traction & braking.
Whether you're taking the back roads home or planning a countryside adventure, this versatile tyre offers smooth-rolling performance from the tarmac to the gravel. Designed for speed, this Terra tyre is the fast model in the series and it features Continental's BlackChili compound which uses its unique tread to give you the best balance of grip and rolling resistance. One final highlight is this model's ProTection technology, which protects its sidewalls from snake bite punctures while allowing the tyre to adhere to the trail ahead. Technologies: BlackChili Compound: Our unique tread compound, produced only in Germany, answers the eternal question of the best balance of grip and rolling resistance for cycling ProTection Technology: Protects sidewalls from snake bite punctures, while allowing the tyre to adhere to the trail ahead. This additional puncture protection layer which completely encircles both tyre beads, makes out carcasses robust and impervious against damage and penetration from foreign objects. Greater comfort, grip and puncture protection from lower pressures, when installed with RevoSeal.
A tread for every intended surface, the obligatory breakdown protection belt and a high mileage compound ensure the TourRide is a trustworthy option for many carefree miles. Sizing Option Explained: Although this tyre mentions 26", it is NOT compatible with 26" wheels with the more common 559 ETRTO sizing. This tyre has a larger ETRTO of 584, so it's only compatible with wheels that have this larger size or 27.5" wheels. Please check your current tyre's ETRTO number on its sidewall before choosing these tyres.
