Regardless of whether you’re winning a Grand Tour, leading the pack during Crit races or dominating your rivals at the local Club rides, the latest evolution of the Corsa Tubular provides world-class performance in all weather conditions as you soar towards the podium. Technologies: Graphene 2.0 Compound: Vittoria’s unique Graphene compound is superior in rolling performance, grip, traction and longevity. This compound provides the performance benefits required for competitive, consistent racing output. The Original Graphene Compound raised the bar for performance evenly through all disciplines, whereas Graphene 2.0 pinpoints the performance requirements from each cycling discipline and enhances them for speed, grip, durability and puncture resistance. 4C Compound: Exclusively developed by Vittoria and achieves high-end performance. The 4C is a layering process using 4 separate rubber compounds within the same tread. The 4C construction provides unmatchable versatility in both the central and side tread areas. The finished product is extensively tested to ensure it meets the competition level performance that road and off-road cyclists demand, and benefits the rider significantly, providing better rolling efficiency, better grip and puncture protection.
Please Note: This tyre is listed as a clincher tyre, but it is a specific tyre of tyre that brings you the benefits of a tubular tyre, that is only compatible with clincher type rims. It is called a "tubular clincher" type tyre and cannot be used on tubular rims. The thinner tread of this road bike tyre also lowers rolling resistance while the tyre is maintaining ideal shock absorption properties and high puncture resistance. How Does the Tubular Clincher Tyre Work? When inflated, the tubular clincher (see image below), in the same way as a tubular, is pressed towards the rim. Simultaneously, the bead blocks of the profiled rubber band spread out embedding on the rim shoulders and eliminating any rotation of the tubular clincher against the rim as well as the possibility of the tubular clincher unseating. As the tubular clincher is inflated, the band side literally 'bite' into the rim shoulders. Benefits of Tufo's tubular clincher tyres: high inflation pressures - up to 15 bars (220 psi) without any damage to the rim walls, even in a case when the rim manufacturer specifies lower inflation pressures (the pressure is contained inside the tubular clincher and does not affect the rim wall), same riding quality as with tubular tyres, safe handling in case of punctures (the stability of a rider is not affected), the tubular clincher can be ridden when flat, and the fastest and easiest installation and dismantling without any tools.
This rim features legendary Firecrest technology, providing outstanding aerodynamic performance, straight-line power transfer efficiency, great stability in crosswinds and is perfect for climbing due to its weight. They deliver precise handling and stability on adrenaline fuelled descents and snappy acceleration when putting the power down. Firecrest Design Benefits The fundamental benefits of the Firecrest design are that its shape moves the centre of air pressure backwards, giving the 82mm deep rim the crosswind stability of a much shallower rim. Also, the 26mm wide brake track (at centre) enables the Tubular tyre to achieve a wider, more stable profile without compromising rolling resistance. Exceptional Rolling Efficiency At the centre of this wheel is the Zipp 177 hub, which features unmatched durability and advanced bearing protection, with no bearing pre-load required. This hub provides exceptional rolling efficiency and a consistent performance output that you will be hardpressed to find a rival in the same wheel class.
The 3C Compound construction has three unique rubber compounds, which are precisely placed where it benefits rolling speed, grip and reliability the most. This confidence-inspiring tyre features a slick central section and superb tread on the outer edges, which offer fast rolling and high-traction in all-weather conditions while also being resistant to punctures. Technologies: Graphene 2.0 Compound: Vittoria’s unique Graphene compound is superior in rolling performance, grip, traction and longevity. This compound provides the performance benefits required for competitive, consistent racing output. The Original Graphene Compound raised the bar for performance evenly through all disciplines, whereas Graphene 2.0 pin-points the performance requirements from each cycling discipline and enhances them for speed, grip, durability and puncture resistance. 3C Compound: Vittoria 3C is a layering process, which utilises three separate compound layers in the same tread. The unique properties of each compound that includes Graphene provides enhanced performance in all areas, most notably mileage, puncture protection and grip.
This tyre has been optimised exclusively for use on indoor wooden tracks and delivers the greatest levels of speed, acceleration and low-rolling resistance imaginable. Perfect for all riding conditions, this tyre gives you fast-rolling resistance and excellent handling when cornering. Technologies: Challenge Handmade Clinchers (HCL): These Handmade Clinchers are made from the same materials and processes as our handmade tubulars but instead of sewing an inner tube inside the casing is wrapped around an aramid bead to form a tire that fits on a clincher rim. The HCL is moulded flat, not in a horseshoe like a TLR or VCL. This shape allows the casing to naturally deform over surface imperfections and minimize rolling resistance. A tubeless tire is moulded in a U-shape to make the sidewalls rigid, so the system does not “burp” or lose air when it deforms after it encounters a surface imperfection. The tubeless tire’s stiff sidewall compromises its ability to equal a supple HCL with a latex inner tube.

Hand Assembled Challenge uses the latest technical materials such as corespun for the inner casing of these tyres. This material produces a very high TPI (threads-per-inch) count to ensure the ultimate in strength, suppleness, and low weight. This casing is then hand glued on to the tread, which has previously been installed and inflated on a rim. This means that when the assembled tyre is inflated, it provides more precise handling, lower rolling resistance, and better grip. Shock Absorbing The best materials have been used to obtain consistent grip over uneven terrain and reduce the vibration feedback to the rider, helping you to maintain grip and control on even the longest and roughest races. The advanced design reduces wheel skipping and jumping over rough surfaces, ensuring efficient grip and helping you to maintain your speed. These tyres also feature a double layer of Challenge's PPS (puncture protection system) between the tread and casing, to give you confidence when blasting over tree roots and sharp rocks. Technologies: Challenge Handmade Tubulars (HTU): Our Handmade Tubular (HTU) tires perform better than any tubeless system! Therefore, they are raced by all the top athletes and teams in every cycling segment. The latex inner tube we cradled inside the high-quality casing that is sewn shut, forming a soft protective layer for the delicate tube. A base tape is glued over the sewing for protection and to absorb the adhesive later applied to hold the tubular on the rim. The carcass is mounted on a rim, inflated and a special natural rubber tread is precisely glued on top. Puncture protection layers and sealants can be applied to the finished casing, depending on the tubular’s use.
Cyclocross World Champion for years. Whether a Pro or just a hardcore rider Grifo is the tyre you need. Unbelievable grip with no rolling resistance compromise. All tubular and open tubular produced by Challenge are special products. Machines are not able to produce them and the manual skill required in each step to obtain a good quality standard is very high. The casing is produced with the latest technical materials like Corespun (a cotton and polyester combination). Corespun is a thread from which we obtain a very supple and strong casing with low weights. The casings have a high TPI count that can reach over 300 tpi. Our production process avoids any vulcanisation process to enable all materials to keep their suppleness and flexibility. The tread is slowly hand glued on the casing which is previously mounted and inflated on a rim. By using this method the tread is relaxed on the casing and does not suffer any tension when inflated. The result of this is a lower rolling resistance, increase in comfort, more precise handling of the bike and better grip. Hand made tubulars are well known by professionals and is this type of tyre that is preferred for the long stage races. To give the best possible grip in curves Challenge uses the most updated materials to obtain flexibility, suppleness and this results in absorption of irregular surfaces giving to the cyclist the best possible contact patch. The wheel avoids jumping and the tyre will deform and absorb the irregularities acting in some way as a shock absorber. A special fabric is placed between the tread and casing to increase puncture resistance PPS (Puncture Protection System) technology. Comfort means reduction of harmful vibrations for the wrists and neck, these vibrations, will end causing inflammatory problems, as a hard tyre will transfer all the vibrations directly to the racer body. Classed as one of the best all-around cyclocross tyres every created by Challenge, this tyre excels in wet, dry, soft packed, rocky and root-infested course conditions. Open Tubular (Clincher) An open tubular is constructed using the same casing and tread materials and process as a tubular, but instead of sewing the casing together (closed), the sides of the tubular casing are folded around aramid fibre cords to produce beads. This ‘open’ design performs like a tubular, yet conveniently mounts like a standard clincher tyre. If combined with a Latex inner tube the ride becomes even closer to that of a tubular, offering excellent traction and cornering, low rolling resistance and shock absorption.
