The RD-M786 rear derailleur with Shadow technology is optimised for trail riding with the addition of an innovative new friction clutch mechanism which actively prevents the derailleur cage moving forwards under tension, all but eliminating chain slap and helping to prevent chain suck and dropping, ideal for more aggressive trail riders. The tension can be removed with the used of an integrated lever which facilitates easy wheel removal and gear indexing.The familiar 'Shadow' low profile design architecture keeps the derailleur and it's pulley cage closely tucked in to prevent impact damage from trail hazards whilst also eliminating chainstay contact and trail chatter, similarly the direct cable routing prevents snagging.
