The SH51 SPD single-release cleats are recommended for all mountain bike (MTB) SPD pedals except PD M858: release the cleat by twisting the heel outwards. In layman's terms, this is the cleat that will fit 99% of SPD-compatible pedals excluding the PDM858. The SH52 SPD single-release cleats are recommended for PDM858 pedal: release the cleat by twisting the heel outwards. In layman's terms, this is the cleat that will fit all of the same pedals as above (SH51) and ALSO the PDM858. Unless you have the PDM858, Wiggle would recommend opting for the more popular SH51 option. Technologies: SPD: SPD is a system that performs whether you’re on or off the bike. It makes pedaling more efficient with a wide variety of shoe and pedal styles and the recess cleat makes walking more comfortable. You can pedal with greater efficiency, stability and comfort with the SPD system. SHIMANO invented SPD to meet the needs of a growing frontier lifestyle called MTB. By eliminating toe-clips and integrating the pedal and outsole into a single, unified power transfer system, SHIMANO changed the industry; not only boosting power to the pedal, but also the rider’s control over increasingly adventurous styles of riding. Today there’s no single MTB style, and no single SPD pedal to match. It’s all over the landscape, from fast paced XC racing to steep, rocky, wet, rooted and muddy trails. SHIMANO SPD pedals are keeping up. The legacy of “in-the-dirt” dependability, reliability and sheer endurance continues as shoe-pedal designs evolve to meet the needs of your personal style of ride. System-engineered. Rider-tuned. You choose.
Equipped with a double-sided design, these superb hybrid bike pedals let you ride with or without cleats to suit your riding preference. The flat side provides superb grip to the sole of your shoe, especially in wetter weather, while the cleat side gives a positive and reliable engagement with the included SM-SH56 cleats. Kitted out with a light-action binding, clipping in and out is made simple with the brilliantly adaptable Shimano EH500 SPD Pedals.
Pro Enduro Performance As seen gracing the feet of professional Enduro mountain bike racers, the ME702 SPD Enduro MTB Cycling Shoes offer uncompromising performance for those of you who love to tackle the toughest of trails. These are shoes you can stage after stage, day after day with no loss of comfort. Secure Fit To get a snug and secure fit, Shimano gives you a super-tough low-profile upper buckle alongside an ever-reliable quick-adjust lace lower. Covering the laces is a durable cover which along with a neoprene cuff at the ankle keeps dirt, grit and water splashes out. Pedalling Perfection Turning to the bottom of the shoes, the SPD compatible sole lets you clip in confidently and securely to your pedals. While clipped in, you'll also benefit from the TORBAL™ midsole. This midsole design allows a natural lateral movement of the heel, letting you move and manoeuvre easily, but still maintains excellent pedalling efficiency at the cleats. And talking of efficiency, the sole unit is nicely stiff, 8 out of 12 on the Shimano scale, letting you get the power down with ease. Lastly, the MICHELIN® OCX3 sole compound improves both grip and durability both on and off the pedals. It's the ideal sole for when you're off the bike scoping out trails and then on the bike offers blisteringly quick acceleration out of berms, drops and over the roughest of terrain. Cleat Guidance These mountain bike shoes are compatible with MTB pedal systems, which use cleats with SPD standard (2-bolt standard), e.g.: Shimano SPD, Time ATAC, CrankBrothers, CrankBrothers Race, Look MTB, Xtreme MTB, Wellgo MTB, Ritchey MTB.
