This tubular tire version sees a major redesign for disc brakes with a new full carbon rear hub full carbon lacing ID360 freewheel technology and thru-axle compatibility.The rim is engineered with a NACA-inspired full-carbon profile that’s 40mm deep and 25mm wide. It’s made from 12k carbon fibers wrapped over a super rigid foam core. Full-carbon construction means the whole wheel is incredibly light at just 1235g. The 20 super-bladed carbon fiber spokes and high thin carbon hub flanges offer a proven aero advantage. The spokes are made with unidirectional carbon fibers so they don’t stretch. The spokes run continuously from one edge of the rim to the other through the hubs (R2R technology) creating one single spoke instead of two. This adds wheel stiffness and eliminates the need to mechanically attach the spokes to the hub.The rear rim is asymmetrical to improve its drive-side bracing angle so spoke tension is balanced and the wheel remains stiff under the heaviest lateral loads such as sprints or attacks. The axles are paired with automatically adjusted sealed cartridge bearings for perfect preload. At the back the ID360 freewheel system provides instant engagement and low friction. The hubs are thru-axle compatible (12x100 up front and 12x142 at the back) and made for Center Lock brake rotors. They are fabricated in 6061-T6 Aluminium by the craftsmen at our Halifax Frame Works. Brand new tooling and jigs were specifically built and developed for these new models, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to new frames' feature list. The laterally stiff single-pivot platform is a format we feel we own. We have more experience with this suspension system than any other bike company out there. For us, working with component manufacturers to achieve the perfect shock tunes for our frames is one of the most exciting aspects of the job. It’s a two-way street as the Orange single-pivot system is a perfectly clean platform for manufacturers to develop their shocks with too, So it’s a win-win situation for everyone.
