The Riot+ combines Bont's pro series technical features, our power transfer platform, anatomical shaping with competition grade materials and BOA retention system to create the most technically advanced entry level road cycling shoe. Microfiber Upper Is Utilized Microfiber upper is used to provide the Bont Riot+ with a strong outer layer to withstand the rigours of everyday cycling whilst extensive perforations across the upper ensure excellent ventilation of the cycling shoes. Carbon Composite Construction The carbon composite construction of the Riot+ has been specifically designed to ensure maximum performance at low weight. The composite tub style construction of the chassis has been strengthened with the inclusion of carbon across high stress areas. The carbon has been sandwiched between layers of fibreglass to maximise strength. Retention System Z form velcro and micro adjustable BOA retention system are utilized in conjunction with Bont's anatomical design to ensure a secure fit. Ventilation The Bont Riot+ is highly ventilated via extensive perforations of the top panel. Anti Stretch Between the outer leather and the liner we add a material that is proprietary to Bont to stop the cycling shoe from stretching over time. This material has similar strength characteristics to Kevlar. The material is stitched to the outer leather and bonded to the liner so it can never move or be removed, it becomes part of the cycling shoes structure. This layer assits in pedalling efficiency by maintaining a supportive structure over the top of the foot in the upward part of the pedal stroke. Last Design A last is a replica of a foot that the cycling shoe is built around. Last makers do not make cycling shoe lasts, they only make shoe lasts so perfecting a cycling shoe last requires a great deal of expertise in functional biomechanics and ongoing research. The base of the Riot TR+ is made by hand utilizing uni-directional carbon fiber which is embedded with epoxy thermo setting resin. The fibers are hand laid in the matrix according to the strain they will have to bear. The Riot TR+ utilizes unidirectional carbon fiber allowing Bont to create a performance cycling shoe with very specific strength characteristics based on stress points in cycling. As unidirectional carbon absorbs less resin then cross weave fibers, it also assists in the weight reduction of the cycling shoes. Box Two integrated headsets feature an aluminum top cap, CNC-machined bearing cover, and split crown race with super-smooth rolling, precision bearings. The 1.5" headset is designed solely for tapered frames and forks but also includes an adapter which allows you to run a straight 1-1/8" inch fork in a tapered head tube. It has a 45° x 45° upper bearing and a 36°x45° lower bearing.
Cold forged and fully CNC-machined from a number of high strength aluminum alloys, The Box One Stem Lock offers peace of mind and a level of added protection against losing your front wheel and fork legs in the event of a broken steerer tube. The stem lock runs through the centre of your steer tube providing compression for your headset and steering system. These are praticulary good for Carbon forks that use a carbon steerer tube and cannot accept a top cap or star nut. The Box One Stem Locks are backwards compatible with existing Box forks and may work with forks from other manufacturers.
There is more to the carbon headsets than their exceptional good looks. From top to bottom, Box One Carbon Headsets have been designed to perform. Each unit features a custom CNC-machined alloy top cap in the shape of the Box logo with cut-outs to reduce weight. At the centre of the top cap is an anodised aluminium bolt that threads into a gold anodised aluminium expander plug. This expander eliminates the need for a star nut and works with all 1 1/8-inch steerer tubes—even carbon fibre steerer tubes. The top bearing cover is crafted from carbon fibre, which not only adds style but helps to shave weight. At the heart of the headset are two super-smooth, titanium-nitride coated, sealed, 45×45 bearings. The titanium coating results in a low friction coefficient, increased corrosion resistance and smoother rolling bearings. A split crown race makes installation and removal from forks super easy.
