The filter is replaceable and is designed to remain effective until a noticeable discolouration of the filter occurs. The two Powa valves allow unimpeded exhalation, which is particularly important as they release heat, water vapour and Carbon Dioxide. Sportsta Protection: This mask is subject to testing which has been proven it to give 99% filtration of particulates smaller than PM2.5 (2.5 microns) and in fact, has been shown to be effective to filter microns up to ten times smaller; 0.3 microns. An important aspect of the effectiveness of mask filtration is how well they fit. If the mask doesn't fit well and air can pass through the gap where it fits, then it won't be effective; hence why multiple sizes are available.
