Castelli have long been pioneers of lightweight shorts for hot-weather cycling but in pursuit of lighter weights, durability can be compromised. The Superleggera Bib Shorts are a result of Castelli's design team looking for an innovative way to achieve performance in the heat without over-compromising durability. Hot Weather Cycling. No Sweat. It starts with Castelli using a cutting-edge development in woven fabric rather than the traditional knit fabric of standard shorts. This reduces weight by some 50% while still offering the same level of muscle support and non-transparency. Uniquely, the fabric is also graded so that it becomes lighter as you move down the leg. The last part of the leg weighs a mere 90 g/m² compared to the usual 220 g/m² of standard cycling shorts. Less weight equals greater comfort as the heat rises. Reduced moisture absorption is also key to the Superleggera's comfort and lack of weight. When dry, the shorts weigh a measly 141 grams. However, they actually absorb 30% less moisture too, so when you really get a sweat on they stay light. Compared to normal shorts that could be as much as 150 grams in weight saved - a welcome boost to power to your weight ratio as you head upwards. While being barely-there light the fabric is durable and abrasion-resistant against the saddle too - though something this light won't like you hitting the tarmac so ride safe and rubber side down. The bib section of the shorts is borrowed from the Free Aero Race 4 Bib shorts for perfect support, comfort and moisture management while stretch-woven grippers, with Lycra, keep the shorts locked in place over the thighs. Progetto X2 Air Seamless Seat Pad Inside the shorts is Castelli's fabulously comfortable Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad. So what exactly makes it so comfortable? It starts with the first contact point against the skin. This upper skin-care material is now seamless and even softer than previous versions letting you enjoy smooth and chafe-free pedalling, no matter the distance. The next layer, Castelli’s infinitely variable thickness padding, imparts just the right level of support where you need it, thicker under the sit bones and thinner on the sides and under the perineum - the result is intense comfort with reduced bulk. Lastly, to really push home superior comfort levels, perforated viscous padding is added under the highly sensitive ischial and perineum pressure areas, offering luxurious support when you're on the saddle for hours on end.

The Castelli Superleggera Bibshort is designed for the hottest conditions and is the latest iteration in Castellis quest to build the most lightweight bibshort. Castelli has been developing lightweight bibshorts since 2011, but when designing the Superleggera Bibshort Castelli went back to the drawing board to rethink every aspect of the shorts design. Castelli decided that what the short needs to do is hold the seat pad securely in place while adding as little weight as possible and retaining durability. The solution was to engineer a brand-new fabric that is woven rather a knit, saving 30% in weight for the same level of support. Castelli also worked with a world leading mill to create a graded fabric that becomes increasingly lighter the further down the leg it extends. At the lightest point, this fabric weighs 90g/m2 compared to normal short fabric which weighs roughly 220g/m2. The result of these new technologies is a bibshort that weighs an incredibly light 141g in size large. The fabric construction saves weight, but it really comes into its own when riding hard in hot conditions as it absorbs 30% less moisture compared to normal short fabric. This means that while the fabric saves 48g in weight when dry, it saves closer to 150g when youre sweating your way up Cols and pushing yourself to your absolute limit. The long-sleeve Gabba is one of our most versatile pieces. 100% wind protection with GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® water protection and best-in-class breathability. With a light base layer it's good for mild temperatures, or with a thermal layer you can ride it below freezing. If you have just one jacket in your cycling wardrobe, this should be it. Sublimation print graphic on the do-everything Perfetto RoS 2 Jacket base Castelli-exclusive GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® 205 Warm brushed water-resistant fabric on front-facing surfaces GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® 203 Stretch on rear-facing surfaces for greater stretch and breathability Taped shoulder seams for extra rain protection Top- and bottom-opening YKK® Vislon® zipper for easy sliding, covered for additional wind and rain protection Zippered ventilation opening on side of chest 3 rear pockets Reflective panel at bottom of pockets. The Unlimited version of the Perfetto RoS 2 Jacket is simply a graphic treatment making it look more at home on any surface but not sacrificing any of the performance. When we think about what we want in a gravel jacket, we keep coming back to the Perfetto, since it really is perfect for so many conditions. We just want it to look different. The Perfetto RoS 2 excels in dry conditions thanks to the high breathability, as well as in wet conditions thanks to the Castelli-exclusive GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® fabrics. There's a light fleece-lined water-resistant fabric on the forward-facing surfaces and a lighter and stretchier fabric on the back that maximizes breathability while providing excellent water repellency. The Perfetto RoS 2 Jacket keeps all the cold wind out while being much more breathable than the typical polyurethane membranes used on most jackets that try to compete with the Perfetto. When you stay drier you don't need as many layers underneath. The beauty of this jacket is that it doesn't have any insulation on its own, so a thin base layer is just right for mild conditions, while adding an insulating layer (a thermal jersey or Castelli's Alpha 2nd Layer) will take you to cold temperatures. You decide. The 2 part of the name refers to the updates to the latest version, including a YKK® Vislon® zipper with both top and bottom openings for more adjustable ventilation. The reflectivity on the back is more visible, the seam at the top of the shoulder has been moved to the back, and the three pockets hold more gear. While the Perfetto remains decidedly a performance fit, the new model has a touch more room through the chest, shoulder, and biceps. This is the one jacket that belongs in every cyclist's quiver.
With just a base layer, this is a wind-protection jersey for mild conditions. Alternatively, use it over a jersey like a vest with added protection on your shoulders. Lightweight, breathable front wind protection with allover water repellency. Lightest Castelli short-sleeve wind protection GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® 203 Stretch lightweight fabric on front and sleeves Nano Flex Light Woven on back for breathable stretch with good water protection Top- and bottom-opening YKK® Vislon® zipper for easy ventilation adjustment on the fly 3 rear pockets Reflective panel at bottom of pockets The Perfetto RoS 2 Wind Jersey started life as a request from our pro riders: I want to wear the Gabba all the time, but sometimes it's too hot. So a somewhat lighter and more breathable Gabba became the Perfetto Light. With the fourth generation, we've also changed the name from Perfetto Light to Perfetto RoS 2 Wind Jersey. And it has become a staple in our autumn and spring wardrobes because it's so useful in so many situations ... which makes it very hard to define. In one sense it's a warmer vest, since it has the same construction as the Perfetto RoS 2 Vest but with short sleeves. In another sense it's a less warm Gabba. In another sense it's a jersey with front wind protection. Regardless of how YOU define it, you'll appreciate how it gives the right amount of protection on cool days while maintaining a high level of breathability. It makes you feel warm and protected, yet offers almost the same lightness and freedom of movement as a summer jersey. For mild days, we'll use it as a jersey over a light base layer with Seamless arm warmers. For rides in cooler or changeable conditions, we'll layer it over a jersey, with either Seamless or Nano Flex arm warmers. The 2 part of the name refers to the updates to the latest version, including a YKK® Vislon® zipper with both top and bottom openings for more adjustable ventilation. The reflectivity on the back is more visible, the three pockets hold more gear, and the extended tail has been reduced to make the piece more packable.
