The MegaV4: born through Evolution, not revolution. The Nukeproof Mega: an “enduro bike” that was ahead of its time. Originally developed and later named after the race it was designed for on the infamous trails of Alp D’Huez. To date the Mega platform is one of the most highly decorated race bikes on the market: with the 2017, 2018 (x2) and 2019 Enduro World Series Titles; a Downhill World Championship top 10 and a Silver Medal at the 4x World Championship to its name. (As well as a host of other national and international victories and titles) Since 2009, the Nukeproof Mega has been on a constant path of development to meet the evolving demands of Nukeproof's professional riders and its customers alike. They are relentlessly striving for improvements and with each generation, the Mega has been chiselled and shaped into today’s thoroughbred Enduro race bike. With the launch of the 2020 Carbon Mega 290c, you could forgive Nukeproof's designers for resting on their laurels. However, as its products are developed between the tapes, there is a constant desire to hone and refine in order to give its athletes and riders the best possible chance of standing on top of the podium. Designed as an evolution of the ultimate Enduro bike, the Mega V4 has been fully reimagined to offer optimised sizing/fit, improved geometry and suspension kinematics. Most importantly you can now fit a water bottle inside the main front triangle. Frame Construction: The Alloy Mega features a full custom triple-butted hydro-formed 6061-T6 Aluminium tube set and forged parts. It is available for 27.5”, 297 or 29” wheel sizes. These are totally different, compromise free frames that were designed and developed at the same time. Each frame is simply tailored around each wheel size so that you can get the most out of every ride. Updated Sizing/Geometry: Whilst humans may not have changed size much in recent years; the bikes they choose to ride most certainly have. To ensure a perfectly dialled fit Nukeproof now offers the 297 bikes in S, M, or L sizes and the 290 bikes in M, L, XL or XXL. Lower, longer, steeper and slacker! Nukeproof's geometry is now designed around the saddle offset for each size to optimise seated weight distribution. This results in steeper seat angles across the board but especially on larger sizes for taller riders. This in turn results in longer reach figures to ensure a comfortable cockpit on each size. To further aid the perfect fit they have also used shorter seat tubes which are designed to maximise seat post insertion depths. Finally, all Mega bikes are now designed to use short offset forks to further improve both climbing and descending capabilities. Suspension Design: To step-change the Mega’s suspension design Nukeproof went back to the drawing board and started afresh. They redesigned the Mega 4 bar horst linkage to be super supple over small bumps, progressive and supportive throughout the mid stoke for support when pedalling, cornering and pumping, with increased end stroke leverage to allow more tuning options with volume spacers. The kinematic is designed to have higher levels of anti-squat for climbing gears but this reduces as you drop down the cassette. The result is a bike that is more confidence inspiring everywhere on the hill. It behaves itself on the climbs; yet can still be thrashed through the roughest and most technical terrain on the way back down. It is also equipped with an ultra-responsive EXT STORIA LOK V3 Coil rear shock that offers excellent rear wheel tracking and bump swallowing performance as you charge across rock gardens, tree roots and trail debris. Agile and responsive, this version benefits from race-ready geometry with internally piped cable routing, which provides smooth handling as well as a clean finish. Ideal for completing your enduro bike build, a final highlight is its 148x12mm Boost rear hub spacing that ensures strong and stiff control as you race for the podium. For over 12 years, Nukeproof's best-selling model; the Mega has been racking up awards on Enduro stages and in the press around the world. With four Enduro World Series titles to its name, the Mega has become an icon that is synonymous with racing. Since 2009, the Nukeproof Mega has been on a constant development to meet the demands of Nukeproof's riders and customers alike. As a result, the Mega Carbon V4 frame is available for 27.5”, 29” or new Mixed (Front 29”/Rear 27.5” wheel sizes) wheel setups, with each frame design tailored around each wheel size. Race-Ready Carbon MTB Frame To optimise the weight, strength and stiffness, the Mega Carbon frame features a T700/800 UD woven carbon fibre frameset (front and rear triangle). The carbon swingarms help reduce the unsprung weight on the rear of the bike, improving suspension performance. All forged parts are made from 6061-T6 aluminium. Nukeproof's Ultimate Enduro Race Bike After winning four Enduro World Series Titles in three years the V4 design is an evolution of Nukeproof's ultimate enduro bike. At the heart of the frame is the brand's revised suspension Kinematic, designed to be more subtle off the top, whilst remaining progressive and predictable. Anti-Squat is used to create an effective pedalling bike that can be thrashed through technical terrain. The useable SAG range is also widened to allow riders to tune the suspension to the trails. Other Key Features Include: All new UD Carbon chassis Improved suspension kinematics Tube-In-Tube design for easy cable installation All new geometry Optimised sizing/fit - Small to Large SRAM UDH Room for a 750ml water bottle inside the main front triangle EXT STORIA LOK V3 Coil Rear Shock The updated Mega frame geometry features a dynamic saddle offset that's designed to optimise seated rider weight distribution on each frame size. This is achieved through seat angles that are bespoke to each frame size. In addition, the actual seat tube is designed to be shorter overall with a bigger maximum insert depth to allow for a longer dropper post if required. EXT STORIA LOK V3 Rear Shock The STORIA LOK V3 offers the revolutionary LOK Technology that allows a complete compression separate lock-out system, now totally renewed with a new design, a more progressive opening, and a totally silent working. In order to allow every rider to use a softer spring rate and increase bike traction and handling, EXT engineers have imported from ARMA the hydraulic bottom-out system named HBC (Hydraulic Bottom-out Control), capable to develop more than 50% of hydraulic force only on the last part of the stroke, allowing riders to avoid any kind of bottom-out issues. This technology allows the use of thinner bottom-out bumpers, increasing the amount of useful travel. The STORIA V3 is also designed to serve riders who want the maximum performance of a pedal-platform equipped shock, with great support on the last millimetres of bike rear travel, with the great performance of a coil-over shock. Fast Suspension Fenix EVO Enduro Coil Rear Shock The Fenix was released in January 2019 and immediately proved its worth and performance by reaching the Enduro World Series podiums. The Fenix EVO stemmed from the idea of having a shock as efficient as a downhill shock with an integrated climb mode that stays independent from the other adjustments. Fast Suspension has kept all the strengths of the Fenix with the VDP piston that gives incomparable comfort and track feedback. The adjustable low-speed, medium speed compression and the dedicated high-speed piston. Fast focused their attention on the design of the EVO head for compatibility with more frame designs. And they also thought about making your life easier if you want to change your shock stroke without needing to open the shock thanks to the new spring retainer design.
