The Project 23 Carbon Full Face Helmet features a whole host of materials and technologies to ensure your head gets the finest protection possible while offering an incredibly low weight for a hard-shell lid. Seven iDP chose a Carbon Fibre hardshell construction over the EPS foam core rather than in-moulding a light outer to a foam core, as can be found on most trail helmets. This makes it superb at absorbing impacts, prevents penetration from ground objects and, thanks to the carbon outer, weight is kept low without compromising safety. The CRV (Crash Release Visor) is also designed to snap away in the event of a crash, reducing forces on the neck and head. It simply snaps back into place too, rather than using bolts. The Project 23 Carbon also features the S.E.R.T. system, this acts as a slip-plane system to manage the rotational forces on your head and brain. By minimising and managing the transmission of impact forces to your brain, some 20% greater absorption than standard systems, you're less likely to suffer chronic brain injuries. The 23 vents make this the most ventilated hard-shell full-face helmet currently available. The TF (Through Flow) Goggle ventilation ensures you always have a clear view too, keeping fogging at bay. The M1 provides full-face protection and long-lasting comfort thanks to its foam padded internal muzzle providing maximum protection, cushioning you from abrasions and impacts. To keep you ventilated the helmet comes with 17 vents that are spread across the entirety of the helmets structure. Each vent is covered in meshing which prevents debris from entering the interior of the helmet. The wide face opening makes it easy to fit any goggles and the adjustable peak is held in place with two aluminium screws and a central thumb screw. Using TeXtreme Spread Tow carbon fibre reinforcements in the shell, the TLD D4 Carbon Freedom helmet has helped reduce down the weight of the full face helmet by almost 50 grams without sacrificing any strength. Despite the loss in weight, Troy Lee were able to strategically add EPS (expanded polystyrene) to increase strength and durability.
