These three words represent the vast spectrum of our rider's cycling ambitions and goals, which Boardman want to support them in achieving, however big or small they are.When it comes to riding bikes, kids are constantly pushing forwards, riding faster and exploring further. So when designing our first full range of junior bikes, Boardman have put Forwards, Faster, Further on each bike to keep the childlike joy and freedom of pushing the boundaries on a bike at the front of our minds.The JNR range comprises six models, each with the goal of getting kids outside, cycling and exploring whilst supporting their developmental progression. From those first freewheeling forward movements on the 12" balance bike to the pride of mastering pedalling and going faster than before on the 20", to a family adventure venturing further on the 26", we've carefully considered every aspect of each bike's fit and function. Function hasn't come at the expense of form though, hidden welds and premium metallic paint finishes help the bikes to look as good as they ride.Our goal is to ensure that the simple act (after some practice) of riding a Boardman JNR is as fun and empowering as possible. The JNR 24" shares many of the same attributes as the JNR 20". A lightweight alloy frame and fork, V-brakes with short-reach levers for smaller hands, a junior-specific saddle and fast-rolling tyres are all there to inspire confidence and make the cycling experience engaging and enjoyable. However, the 24" version builds on these features by adding a nine-speed groupset and wider ratio cassette, which opens up even more exploration opportunities. Rack and mudguard mounts on the frame mean the 24" is incredibly versatile; they can load up for those longer family rides or stop the spray and soggy bottom when the weather turns wet.

With design cues lifted and adapted from our multi-purpose adult HYB hybrid range, the JNR 16" provides the perfect progression from balance bike to pedal bike. A light, triple-butted alloy frame and fork make the bike easy to pedal and balance. The same one-piece bar and stem as our balance model keeps things clean and simple. For those moving up from our balance model, the familiarity reduces cognitive overload, allowing little ones to focus on the new task at hand - pedalling. The first few times starting from a standstill are hard enough without a monster gear that needs to be turned, so JNR 16" uses a single gear set-up that offers the best of both worlds. Easy enough to get spinning but big enough to build up speed as their confidence grows. And once it does, the fast-rolling Vee Speedster tyres will provide plenty of grip, and short-reach brake levers designed for small hands are there to keep things under control
The 2021 Boardman MTR range of bikes are designed to be the perfect machines for all-round UK trail riding. Our brand new 29er platform with 145mm travel and trail-ready geometry is paired with 140 or 150mm forks and can take on rough and technical trails without being a burden on flatter, flowy sections. Longer reach figures, a slackened 66 degree head angle and custom-tuned, long-stroke RockShox shocks deliver composed handling and supple yet supportive suspension action whilst maintaining agility and pedalling efficiency.The MTR 9.0 is the flagship bike in the range, earning its 9 Series status thanks to an upgraded X9 Alloy frame with stunning paint fade and hidden welds with an uncompromising specification. A RockShox Pike Select fork offers 150mm of supple but progressive travel. Its plush Charger RC damper and stiff but light 35mm chassis keep the front wheel planted and on line. This is paired with a custom-tuned Deluxe Select+ rear shock with lock out and rebound adjustment, soaking up trail chatter without blowing through the 145mm travel.Shifting is courtesy of Shimano’s 12-speed SLX groupset with a 10-51t cassette giving crisp shifting and huge range – long steep climbs are no problem with this set up. Braking is also taken care of with Shimano SLX 4-piston calipers combined with 203/180mm rotors front and rear delivering plenty of power with outstanding modulation.A 2.5” Maxxis Minion DHF up front with a 2.4” DHRII at the back are a go-to pairing for loose and technical terrain. These tubeless ready, tan-wall tires are paired with WTB ST-i30 TCS rims on Shimano hubs which come pre-taped for tubeless set up with valves in the box – just add sealant to take advantage of the better grip and fewer punctures which come from ditching inner tubes.780mm bars paired with a 45mm stem keep the steering responsive but easy to control. It varies from Boardman’s road frames in a number of ways: The geometry is designed with off road riding in mind, and id designed so that the rider sits in a more upright position meaning you can spend hours in the saddle in comfort. The bottom bracket, where the pedal arms meet, is lower which drops the centre of mass, helping the bike to feel extremely stable in all conditions.
