Brooks England Proofide Leather Saddle PreserveSpecifically created for use with Brooks England’s range of classic and modern style leather saddles, this Proofide Leather Saddle Preserve isn’t just to make your saddle shine, it assists with the custom moulding process that the saddle’s leather makes as it conforms to your individual shape. Made with natural ingredients, it keeps your saddle supple and also makes it showerproof.Proofide is the only substance that should be used to care for your Brooks Leather Saddle. Apply a little Proofide to the finished side of the leather, allow it to permeate until dry and then polish off. Proofide should be used several times during the 'breaking-in' period and every 3-6 months thereafter. On bicycles not fitted with mudguards, an initial application to the underside of the saddle will be beneficial, this needs not to be polished off. The leather gets its colour during the tanning process and it is possible, therefore, that some colour residues will remain. It is recommended to polish the saddle with a soft cloth before first use. With the cambium range we suggest to check your rivets to see if they are still tight. Over time, due to the vibrations from the road the rivets can loosen, though this is a seldom occurrence. Remember these saddles are hand assembled in the factory, which means all maintenance can be done by hand. What can I do if my saddle makes a creaking noise? A creaking noise from your saddle likely means that the nose rails are rubbing somewhere on the rubber top. This can be alleviated with a small dab of grease. Additionally, a noise can be made where the rails meet the backplate by the little black rubber plug.
