These three words represent the vast spectrum of our rider's cycling ambitions and goals, which Boardman want to support them in achieving, however big or small they are. When it comes to riding bikes, kids are constantly pushing forwards, riding faster and exploring further. So when designing our first full range of junior bikes, Boardman have put Forwards, Faster, Further on each bike to keep the childlike joy and freedom of pushing the boundaries on a bike at the front of our minds.The JNR range comprises six models, each with the goal of getting kids outside, cycling and exploring whilst supporting their developmental progression. From those first freewheeling forward movements on the 12" balance bike to the pride of mastering pedalling and going faster than before on the 20", to a family adventure venturing further on the 26", we've carefully considered every aspect of each bike's fit and function. Function hasn't come at the expense of form though, hidden welds and premium metallic paint finishes help the bikes to look as good as they ride.Our goal is to ensure that the simple act (after some practice) of riding a Boardman JNR is as fun and empowering as possible. With design cues lifted and adapted from our multi-purpose adult HYB hybrid range, the JNR 16" provides the perfect progression from balance bike to pedal bike. A light, triple-butted alloy frame and fork make the bike easy to pedal and balance. The same one-piece bar and stem as our balance model keeps things clean and simple. For those moving up from our balance model, the familiarity reduces cognitive overload, allowing little ones to focus on the new task at hand - pedalling. The first few times starting from a standstill are hard enough without a monster gear that needs to be turned, so JNR 16" uses a single gear set-up that offers the best of both worlds. Easy enough to get spinning but big enough to build up speed as their confidence grows. And once it does, the fast-rolling Vee Speedster tyres will provide plenty of grip, and short-reach brake levers designed for small hands are there to keep things under control

Ample standover clearance and a long wheelbase mean the bike is easier to get on and off and more stable and predictable when riding. Short-reach brake levers make mastering the art of slowing down a breeze.The addition of a seven-speed Shimano gearing opens up so many possibilities. Boardman beginnings, providing little ones with the cycling foundations they can build on as they grow and gain confidence. As with all the JNR models, quality is key and always starts with the frame. The small yet perfectly formed triple-butted aluminium frame and fork keep weight low, and the single down tube construction upfront allows greater standover clearance for those finding their feet astride two wheels. Wide, fast-rolling tyres reduce bumps and vibration to build confidence, and as this grows and the speeds increase, the adjustable reach brake lever is designed for tiny hands to help even the smallest of speedsters to slow their roll. Inevitably toddlers get tired or distracted, and parents always end up having to carry the bike around. Having had experienced this, Boardman have included a simple carry handle in the back of the balance bike-sized saddle, making things comfy for both child and parent alike.
This kid's dropper seat post features a 27.2" diameter as well as 70mm of travel, so your little rider can get the same performance as you would normally expect on an adult's bike. Brand-X has also designed this kid's specific model to drop under a lower weight load, so they can enjoy the identical benefits of a dropper seat, while out on the trail. Ideally suited for riders aged six to twelve years old, this seatpost will drop under a 20kg load and Brand-X suggests a max load of 40kg. It is internally cable routed and comes with a 1x shifter for left-hand bar mount. This allows it to deliver the same reliability and peace of mind that comes as standard with all Brand-X dropper posts.
