When Castelli engineered the first aero jersey for road racing back in 2006, everyone thought we were crazy. Back then, aero was only for TTs. Performance clothing meant moisture management. And you could win the Tour de France with a baggy jersey that was little more than a polyester T-shirt. Even our aerodynamic consultants expected limited gains, so we named the jersey Split Second, though, like now, we thought even small gains were worth pursuing. In the end the gains were pretty substantial, and we completely revolutionized the look of the pro peloton. We're now on the sixth major revision of our aero jersey. Each generation has become more aero and better fitting. The Aero Race 6.0 benefits heavily from CFD analysis of wake flow in the riding position for fabric and seam placement. It also benefits from pro riders' feedback, as we've worked to make the jersey comfortable for their long hours of training and then racing in every possible weather condition. Just as the name says, the Castelli Emergency 2 Rain Jacket is the go-to for emergency rain protection. Castelli has made the jacket completely waterproof with a 10,000mm water column rating. It is compact enough to take up only half a jersey pocket, so you can stash it away with ease and it wont take up too much cargo room. The jacket has a slight stretch and has a superb on-bike fit with enough room to still fit over a Gabba or any thicker winter jacket. The Emergency 2 has all the trappings. A waterproof zipper seals out the rain, a long tail provides extra coverage, the wrist closures fit over gloves, and the 360 reflectivity makes this an ideal friend on dark country lanes or when commuting through the city. The only compromise Castelli has made with this jacket is it is less breathable than its topflight rain jackets. The reason? Simply to make this jacket more affordable. OUR SPECTACULAR GLOVE The development of this product started with a list of the things we wanted to fix about winter gloves: we wanted to make a glove that's warm without being bulky, make it easy to get on and off, make it mostly waterproof without having it suck in dry weather due to low breathability, and make it super comfortable.We innovated everything on this glove, starting with the base fabrics: we've used a stretch water-resistant windproof outer shell over PrimaLoft® Gold insulation to make it warm, and an insanely soft inner liner that happens to slide easily over even a sweaty hand for easy on/off. The wrist zipper allows the glove to open almost completely for ingress/egress and also slims up the glove so it doesn't look like a ski glove, even though it's good for moderately cold temperatures.
