The AC-2 hub features revolutionary bearing installation and function never seen before in a bicycle hub. It has been designed from the ground up for ease of maintenance and optimal bearing performance. The AC-2 Cassette Hub also offers changeable pawl/spring configurations for varying points of driver engagement to suit a rider’s personal preference. Here are a few key points of the AC-2 BMX Cassette Hub: -The AC-2 hubs use 20mm Angular Contact bearings with a wave spring pre-load. Bearings are pressed into tapered cups that mate with the angled bores machined into the hub shell. For more than seven years, Box Founder Toby Henderson has been trying to build a reliable 20mm, cassette hub without creating a new cassette standard. The problem was fitting durable bearings between the cassette body and the oversize axle. The rear Quantum hub overcomes this by using the type of one piece driver commonly found on freestyle hubs. Each hubset includes a 1 piece, 16 tooth driver supported by 3 large, roller bearings. Inside the driver are 6 pawls, each with 2 teeth that engage a 60 tooth ratchet ring, meaning the hub has just 6° of engagement. The end result is a higher performing hub with fewer dead spots and less drag than others on the market. Quantum front hubs are available only with 20mm axles, but the rears can be easily converted between 10mm, 15mm and 20mm axles. Each set includes a front and rear 20mm set-up. The Supreme uses WTP's Q-Lite inverted system. The Q-Lite system uses pawls and springs inside of the hub body, instead of on the driver. This allows us to double the amount of pawls, which not only makes the hub much more reliable, but also puts less stress on the pawls and springs, allowing the hub to roll smoother and for longer.
