The Premio Bibshort has been engineered to provide the ultimate in long-distance comfort and to be your favourite bibshort ever. That’s a big claim, but there’s a lot of development in this short to back it up. We’ve carried the less-is-more theme into the design, with minimalist laser-etched logos and subtle finishing. It looks as premium as it feels. The first thing you might notice is what’s missing: the seams and multiple panels. We engineered a new fabric that changes depending on the needs over various parts of the body. The lower leg has a raw-cut leg ending and rubberized yarns to guarantee a flat grip to keep the leg in place. The fabric becomes lighter in the thigh, while the four-way stretch provides just the right amount of muscle support. With this magical fabric, we don’t need to stitch separate panels together, which ensures more comfort and a better fit, as well as a sleek, sophisticated look. The premium fabrics extend the bib straps. The perforated back keeps you cool and the edge is bonded so you don’t feel the thickness of a stitched edge. The elastic straps have just enough modulus (return) to hold your shorts securely in place without cutting into your shoulders. The seat pad is our top-of-the-line Progetto X² Air Seamless pad. It’s actually two separate components: a soft, stretchy Skin Care Layer next to your skin, which has the sole purpose of preventing any rubbing on your skin, and, under that, the Cushioning Layer, which features two separate densities of foam along with breathable perforated gel inserts under the ischiatic bones and perineum. In the pelvis area, the compression and support increase to keep the seat pad and everything else in place, and the fabric gets thicker to avoid any embarrassing transparency issues. Surprisingly useful - We can officially only rate these warmers at UPF 50+, but in our laboratory tests they actually blocked 99.8 percent of damaging UV rays. We used a polyester base that is not only more effective than nylon at blocking UV rays but is also much better at keeping you dry, which means these skins are better in both cooler and warmer conditions. Weve kept the construction very clean to eliminate seams that can rub, and we used our double-sided silicone elastic to make sure they stay in place. They fold up extremely small, so theyre great to stick in your pockets for your next big mountain day. The waterproof Castelli Pioggia 3 Shoe Cover is fleece lined for warmth making it the perfect piece for winter riding. Pioggia translates as rain and this shoe cover is optimised for the rain. The waterproof PU-coated stretch fabric, with fleece lining, is partially tape sealed to stop rain from entering. Combined with a waterproof rear facing zipper and silicone-lined cuff with a cross wrap Velcro strap to seal against shin runoff. While its forte is resisting rain the Pioggia is fleece lined and waterproof, waterproof also means windproof, so the Pioggia is also a very good cold weather shoe cover.
