Simplicity can also be a virtue. We listened carefully to what aspiring young mountain bikers really expect from their bike - low weight, safe handling, reliable components - and based our development of the Acid 240 SL on these principles. The result is a bike with a light aluminum fork, light, easy-to-use rim brakes and a wide range of 9-speed gears with which even steep climbs can be mastered without any problems. In addition, there is a slimmer handlebar with handles that even small children's hands can optimally grip and keep the bike safely on course on all trails.
When our engineers set out to design the Acid 240, they began with the same kind of heat-treated 6061 aluminium tubes that we use in our adult frames. The result is a frame that's every bit as durable as a full-size mountain bike, but with the right weight and proportions for a child. Mechanically formed tubes mean that it's bang up to date in terms of technology, too. The geometry is tailored to the needs of young CUBE riders, so it's stable and easily controllable, with a low top tube to improve confidence and safety. It incorporates a threaded bottom bracket and internal cable routing for long-lasting service and simple maintenance. There's even a flat disc mount that integrates seamlessly with our kickstand mount, and integrated mounting points for ACID mudguards and carrier. Updated geometry includes a lower top tube for more confident handling, and there's plenty of room to run wide, grippy and comfortable 2.25in tyres. Our SizeSplit system has an expanded range too, so however tall you are there'll be an Aim that fits perfectly.

We also upgraded the rear end to a thru axle and added a tapered head tube for improved rigidity and steering precision, even when fully laden.
