The PG-1230 forms the basis of the NX Eagle Groupset, by providing the same wall climbing 50t bottom cog as the other groupsets, while the use of an 11t top cog means the cassette fits on a regular 8/9/10 speed splined freehub, meaning lower cost and better compatibility. The cassettes uses a traditional construction method, with the biggest 4 steel cogs being pinned to a lightweight aluminium spider, and the 8 remaining cogs being pressed steel.
