Despite its simple appearance, it's stacked with our usual attention to detail. The 6061 aluminium frame and fork are really light, and perfectly proportioned for small children. At just 3.86kg we’ve done everything we can to produce a balance bike that’s as easy for your child to handle as possible; being lighter weight allows even the most nervous beginners to climb on board and scoot with confidence in no time. After a little while each of those nervous little “scoots” will get longer and longer until you find yourself chasing after them as they glide along with a big grin on their face! Until then, we’ve even added a little carry handle on the rear of the saddle for the inevitable walk back home, or to the car when patience learning has worn a little thin for the day.Other features include a rear brake with junior specific, reach-adjust brake lever so that stopping can be mastered once balance becomes second nature. And, a 135 degree head-lock to ensure the front wheel can’t be turned too sharply, which could result in a catapulting child over handlebar incident ie; a definite end to the days practice!

These three words represent the vast spectrum of our rider's cycling ambitions and goals, which Boardman want to support them in achieving, however big or small they are.When it comes to riding bikes, kids are constantly pushing forwards, riding faster and exploring further. So when designing our first full range of junior bikes, Boardman have put Forwards, Faster, Further on each bike to keep the childlike joy and freedom of pushing the boundaries on a bike at the front of our minds.The JNR range comprises six models, each with the goal of getting kids outside, cycling and exploring whilst supporting their developmental progression. From those first freewheeling forward movements on the 12" balance bike to the pride of mastering pedalling and going faster than before on the 20", to a family adventure venturing further on the 26", we've carefully considered every aspect of each bike's fit and function. Function hasn't come at the expense of form though, hidden welds and premium metallic paint finishes help the bikes to look as good as they ride.Our goal is to ensure that the simple act (after some practice) of riding a Boardman JNR is as fun and empowering as possible. Boardman beginnings, providing little ones with the cycling foundations they can build on as they grow and gain confidence. As with all the JNR models, quality is key and always starts with the frame. The small yet perfectly formed triple-butted aluminium frame and fork keep weight low, and the single down tube construction upfront allows greater standover clearance for those finding their feet astride two wheels. Wide, fast-rolling tyres reduce bumps and vibration to build confidence, and as this grows and the speeds increase, the adjustable reach brake lever is designed for tiny hands to help even the smallest of speedsters to slow their roll. Inevitably toddlers get tired or distracted, and parents always end up having to carry the bike around. Having had experienced this, Boardman have included a simple carry handle in the back of the balance bike-sized saddle, making things comfy for both child and parent alike.
