Built with an aerospace shell design and materials, Troy Lee were able to get the D4 Composite helmet to 1050 grams without sacrificing any strength. MIPS (multi-directional impact protection system) is used to add an additional layer of safety in the event of a fall. For comfort, the D4 Comp routes cooling air through a front air intake system that flows through the polymer centre and power grid side mesh keeping your head cooler during the ride. X-static and XT2 anti-microbial/anti-odor padding keep the inside of the helmet a much nicer place to be. Seven iDP chose a Carbon Fibre hardshell construction over the EPS foam core rather than in-moulding a light outer to a foam core, as can be found on most trail helmets. This makes it superb at absorbing impacts, prevents penetration from ground objects and, thanks to the carbon outer, weight is kept low without compromising safety. The CRV (Crash Release Visor) is also designed to snap away in the event of a crash, reducing forces on the neck and head. It simply snaps back into place too, rather than using bolts. The Project 23 Carbon also features the S.E.R.T. system, this acts as a slip-plane system to manage the rotational forces on your head and brain.
