The new SRAM Rival 22 Hydralic Disc Brake represents the entry-level price point into the road hydraulic game, but with all the performance of the more expensive systems.When designing the Rival 22 disc brakes SRAM looked at their original road and cyclocross hydraulic braking systems and pulled apart every molecule of their anatomy to find room for improvements and make them even better and more reliable.The lever body, housing the reservoir and master cylinder, was reconfigured for more efficient internal spacing while at the same time boosting strength and stiffness, resulting in solid, consistent performance, regardless of braking or weather conditions. The master cylinder piston itself was also completely revamped, receiving an all-new bore design and new seals, after being subjected to thousands upon thousands of testing hours in every temperature and performance setting imaginable.The new higher-capacity fluid bladder, was also redesigned to improve fluid flow, so your brakes feel as great brand new as they do after a season of racing. The caliper spring was also re-engineered for more even pad contact and smoother retraction, translating into more consistency and control in hand, regardless of riding conditions. The XG-1250 uses an XDR driver body with technology derived for their XD driver body. This enables SRAM to create a cassette with a 10-tooth start, the same as their mountain bike cassettes. Combined with a 12th ratio, this means the XG-1250 provides a wider gear range, with more gradual progression between ratios; each cassette has at least five one-tooth jumps between cogs.The wider range and 10-tooth start mean that when used with the new Rival AXS chainsets, the XG-1250 can be used with smaller chainrings to offer the same equivalent gears, with a 50t chainring providing the equivalent gear of a 55t chainring when used with a regular cassette with an 11t start. The clever Full Pin construction means the XG-1250 is lightweight, durable and shifts smoothly, even under heavy load. It's the perfect compliment to the Rival eTap AXS groupset.
