Description |
This trail-ready MTB hydraulic disc brake comes equipped with a high-quality carbon fibre lever blade for the perfect balance of stiffness, durability and low weight performance on your ride. SRAM has also kitted out this version with an anodised finish for additional protection against wear and corrosion, making it ideal for all-weather and trail conditions. Another highlight is its steel-backed organic brake pads, which ensure dependable braking as you weave your way from trail to trail. Coming complete with a wide range of technologies, this is a great choice of upgrade for smooth and reliable braking performance wherever your next trail adventure leads you. Every trail and every rider is unique. To meet the infinite variables SRAM created the G2: powerful, consistent, reliable. The brand obsessed over heat management, modulation, materials and design. They made lever-reach and contact points adjustable to fit every hand. And they tested the whole system to ensure it delivers confidence-inspiring performance and control, every ride. For the Ultimate, SRAM held nothing back. The brand's engineers sculpted the finest materials - titanium and carbon fibre - to make this its lightest four-piston brake ever. Power, modulation and lever feel set a new standard. Personalisation is quick and intuitive. And for performance - its test riders didn't dub it the "Mini-Code" for nothing. - More caliper stiffness and a revised pad compound with bite. - Pivot bearings for crisp lever feel and a fatigue-free ride. - SRAM's best power to weight ratio in a four-piston brake. Technologies: Bleeding Edge: With this new caliper fluid circuitry, the bleed port has been moved to the bottom of the caliper, and all four piston bores can communicate. This way, during bleeding fluid naturally fills the caliper, resulting in an easier, more consistent bleed. Contact Point Adjustment: Some people like the instantaneous power of a short lever throw. Others prefer the feel of a longer throw. With Contact Point Adjust, you can pick the position you want your fingers to be in when your brakes are engaged. It’s a quick and easy way to customize the feel of your brakes without having to move the pads. It’s also a way to balance both brake levers to feel exactly the same. Lever Pivot Bearings: Precision sealed bearings at the lever pivot enhance the clean, crisp lever actuation and consistent, light, one-finger feel. Power Reserve Geometry: Your fingers pull in a straight line, but brake levers move in an arc. Bottom line: Your fingers typically want to slip off the ends of the levers as you pull. We designed all of our brakes with the industry's lowest X Factor (that's the distance from the center of the handlebar to the center of the lever's pivot). That reduces the lever's inward travel, creating an arc that's closer to your fingers' natural motion and more power is delivered to the brake lever. And, the cool part is, every SRAM and Avid brake lever has it. S4 Lightweight 4-Piston Caliper: The S4 Caliper features four Machined and Moly-coated aluminium pistons for consistent rollback and easy set-up, Heat shield insulation and Bleeding Edge porting and adapter technology for easy bleeds. SwingLink: Squeeze a SRAM brake lever and you notice it immediately. Less deadband. More positive engagement. A new cam system requires less lever throw to push the pads toward the rotor. That’s great, but there’s more to perfect braking performance than just power. You need control. Many brake systems minimize deadband—but at the cost of modulation. SwingLink solves that with its special cam shape. When the pads contact the rotor, the leverage rate curve is flat and smooth, avoiding that “on/off” brake feel. It’s the perfect balance of power and precision. Timing Port Closure: A hydraulic brake’s timing port is the connection between the reservoir and the lever cylinder bore. When the lever is squeezed, a cup seal passes this area and closes the port, which pressurizes the system. SRAM’s timing port closure system features durable seals and an ultra-smooth cylinder bore finish producing dependable braking power and consistency.
