When you're mountain biking, an almost inevitable part of life is some downtime - as in hitting the dirt after crashing. And when that happens you'll be glad of the tough protection the Women's Montaro MTB Helmet II (MIPS) offers. When you do bang your head, the EPS foam liner provides the shock-absorbing properties needed to protect against injury. Roll Cage™ reinforcement also maintains structural strength and stability during a crash. The MTB-specific shape ensures greater coverage across the whole head too. Covering the liner is a durable polycarbonate shell. This is bonded directly to the EPS Liner, creating a strong and durable helmet that can fend off the knocks from trail overgrowth. To this Giro then adds MIPS. MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) The Mips system is designed to provide added safety for helmets in many accidents. For certain impacts, the Mips system can reduce harmful rotational motion that might otherwise be transferred to the user’s head. Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions in oblique hits to the head. In a crash, the Mips system is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head.
