Taking your head protection to the next level, the MT500 MIPS Helmet combines a host of features to make your mountain biking safer and give you the confidence to take on ever more challenging terrain. Starting with the in-mould construction, this combines a tough and durable outer with a shock-absorbing foam inner. This keeps your head protected when you push your limits a bit too far and hit the ground. Koroyd Technology Engineered Protection The MT500 also features Koroyd protection. Thousands of co-polymer extruded tubes are thermally welded to create a consistent and fully engineered energy absorption system. These cores plastically deform for higher speed impacts, absorbing energy linearly. Up to 84% of the material thickness can be utilised in case of an accident. Existing energy absorbers densify around 60%. MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) The Mips system is designed to provide added safety for helmets in many accidents. For certain impacts, the Mips system can reduce harmful rotational motion that might otherwise be transferred to the user’s head. Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions in oblique hits to the head. In a crash, the Mips system is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head.
