When seeking to create a base layer for freezing cold days, Castelli’s design team turned to the insulating power of Polartec® Alpha®. What they found is that on its own it tended to feel a bit too damp and clammy for use as a stand-alone base layer. However, paired up with a quick-wicking base it offered superb warmth and comfort. The result is the Cold Days 2nd Layer Jersey. Thanks to Polartec® Alpha®, this cycling top is incredibly lightweight, soft and yet offers superb insulation against the cold. It certainly won't weigh you down or get in the way but still retains incredible levels of warmth. It’s the perfect mid-layer to complement your favourite winter base layer. Details have also been carefully designed for mid-layer comfort. A half-zip allows you to vent but lessens bulk over the torso. It's also slightly off-centre, ensuring it doesn't interfere with the zips on your outer jacket or jersey. The high neck offers a warm seal against the cold while the close fit lets you tuck it into your tights or leave it outside.
