Backing up the grip performance is the EXO Protection in the sidewall, which offers high puncture resistance for a reliable performance every time. Optimised for use on trail bikes with wider rims, this wider mountain bike tyre uses the same tread as on the DH version but has the extra weight and width to stand up to the most aggressive trail riding. Technologies: Dual Compound: Two compounds comprised of a hard, longer lasting centre and a softer gripping shoulder. EXO Protection: Maxxis EXO tyres feature an exceptional cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the tyre sidewalls. This densely woven fabric is very lightweight and is very flexible, which guarantees that the performance of the tyre is unaffected. The EXO Protection is a superb choice for rocky, aggressive and technical trails where the chance of sidewall cuts is high. Tubeless Ready: Tubeless tyres provide many benefits: they offer the ability to run lower air pressures, which dramatically improves traction; it provides a lower rolling resistance compared to when using tubes and a drastic reduction in the change of getting a flat tyre since there is no tube. Wide Trail (WT): This construction optimises the tyre tread layout and profile on today’s modern, wider rims. Traditional tyres were designed for older, narrower rims which can lead to an overly square tyre profile, leading to inferior performance. WT tyres are optimised for a 30-35mm inner rim width, depending on the rider’s preference.
