This is an electrically powered mountain bike that's fitted with Shimano STEPS EP8 electric motor drive system and a Shimano Deore 12-Speed groupset to power you across the mountain range. Mullet Wheel Standard: 29" Front and 27.5" Rear Wheel Whilst humans may not have changed size much in recent years; the bikes they choose to ride most certainly have. To ensure a perfectly dialled fit we now offer the 297 bikes in S, M, L, XL and XXL. With a 29” wheel up front, maximises grip and rolling efficiency whilst the 27.5” wheel out back, allows the bike to run shorter chainstays to ensure nimble handling and maximise manoeuvrability. The rear chainstays also benefit from a 3D moulded chain guard to keep the frame protected and running quiet allowing you to concentrate on the trail ahead. Modern Enduro Inspired Race Geometry Lower, longer, steeper and slacker. Our new geometry is now designed around the saddle offset for each size to optimise seated weight distribution. This results in steeper seat angles across the board but especially on larger sizes for taller riders. This in turn results in longer reach figures to ensure a comfortable cockpit of each size. To further aid the perfect fit we have also used shorter seat tubes which are designed to maximise seat post insertion depths. Finally, all new Mega bikes are now designed to use short offset forks to further improve both climbing and descending capabilities. Progressive, Supple and Supportive 4-Bar Horst Suspension Platform To step-change the Mega’s suspension design we went back to the drawing board and started afresh. We redesigned the Mega 4 bar horst linkage to be super supple over small bumps, progressive and supportive throughout the mid-stoke for support when pedalling, cornering and pumping, with increased end stroke leverage to allow more tuning options with volume spacers. The new kinematic is designed to have higher levels of anti-squat for climbing gears but this reduces as you drop down the cassette. The result is a bike that is more confidence-inspiring everywhere on the hill. It behaves itself on the climbs; yet can still be thrashed through the roughest and most technical terrain on the way back down. The new Mega also has a wide SAG range (30%-35%) to allow you; the rider, to tune the characteristics of the bike to your preferences. Durable and Lightweight Alloy Frame with Internal Battery The Megawatt was designed from the outset to optimise the performance of the Shimano EP8 Motor and battery. Crafted from hydroformed 6061 aluminium, the Megawatt shares some characteristics and tube shapes with its Mega sibling but features several notable differences. An all-new one-piece cast Bottom Bracket shell has been engineered to house the Shimano Steps EP8 Motor. The downtube to has been designed to maximise strength and rigidity whilst providing easy access to remove the internal battery for charging or transportation. Mullet Wheel Standard - 29" Front Wheel and 27.5" Rear Wheel Commencal has been working on 29/27 ‘Mullet’ bikes and frames for many years now with their different downhill (DH) teams. This work has allowed Commencal to understand that to transform a regular bike with the same sized wheels into a bike with different sized wheels, it isn’t effective to just throw a 27-inch wheel on the back. The geometry and kinematics of the bike must be completely reworked, and it is thanks to this experience that we are now able to present the most successful version of the META V4 they've ever produced, the Meta SX. Equipping this Meta SX with different sized 29/27-inch wheels is not the result of a trend that Commencal is following. Quite simply, this way the bike is much more balanced, specifically relating to grip on the front and back - the large 29-inch wheel on the front allows more confidence and rolling capacity whilst the 27.5-inch rear wheel offers more manoeuvrability and responsiveness. The result is a bike that is more agile and easier on the steeps, more efficient under braking and more dynamic when pushing hard. Once again, Commencal's choice to work with Aluminium has allowed them to accompany this change in wheel size with an adjustment of the geometry. A shorter 10mm reach, a straightened steerer angle and extended (10mm) chainstays mean that the rider is naturally repositioned in the centre of the bike and will therefore be more precise and agile in their technique. Lively, Progressive and Stable Enduro Optimised Suspension Undoubtedly, one of the points that have changed the most is the way the suspension works. Apart from the kinematics, which have been reworked to provide more liveliness, Commencal made a point of managing the stiffness of the rear triangle. Through new double row Enduro Bearings, eliminating any deformation, the Meta SX frame offers perfect deformation/rigidity management to provide grip, comfort, and performance. Easy Adjustable Flip Chip Suspension System In addition to all this in-depth work, as on their Meta Power TR and Meta TR models, Commencal now offers a "Flip Chip" on the shock extension in order to be able to better adjust the geometry, and therefore fit with your style. This system also means you can adapt the height of the bottom bracket as well as the steerer and saddle angles within seconds.
