The longer we spend riding in the mountains, the more the distinct disciplines of mountain bike are blurring. How far can we go with today’s latest generation of XC bikes before they merge into what we call Enduro? We all want the best. The total Mountain Bike, the “quiver killer”. "I don't want two bikes! I want one that can do it all and make me a better rider". A bike that adapts to all environments, to any type of use, which allows us to ride with our Cross Country whippet friends one weekend and then bang out some runs at the Bike Park with our downhill mates the next.When we debuted the Raze back in the summer at the Sölden Bike Park in Austria, even we were shocked by its performance. When you try it, it makes you rethink whether you really need anything more, or even whether you need different bikes for different rides. Raze really makes you rethink and question the boundaries between disciplines. Some will see it as that ideal bike "a little beyond" the traditional XC but without losing that XC racing performance. You can climb at the same rate as your XC mates but you’ll leave them for dead on the downs. Others will see it as that long-awaited mini-Foxy, with almost the exact same evolved geometry but which lets you ride farther, hit more jumps, rail more single-track and cover greater distances, faster. Too aggressive for XC? Incredibly light for Enduro? It’s all of that and more. Raze redefines what is and has been a traditional trail bike. The 2021 Boardman MTR range of bikes are designed to be the perfect machines for all-round UK trail riding. Our brand new 29er platform with 145mm travel and trail-ready geometry is paired with 140 or 150mm forks and can take on rough and technical trails without being a burden on flatter, flowy sections. Longer reach figures, a slackened 66 degree head angle and custom-tuned, long-stroke RockShox shocks deliver composed handling and supple yet supportive suspension action whilst maintaining agility and pedalling efficiency.The MTR 9.0 is the flagship bike in the range, earning its 9 Series status thanks to an upgraded X9 Alloy frame with stunning paint fade and hidden welds with an uncompromising specification. A RockShox Pike Select fork offers 150mm of supple but progressive travel. Its plush Charger RC damper and stiff but light 35mm chassis keep the front wheel planted and on line. This is paired with a custom-tuned Deluxe Select+ rear shock with lock out and rebound adjustment, soaking up trail chatter without blowing through the 145mm travel.Shifting is courtesy of Shimano’s 12-speed SLX groupset with a 10-51t cassette giving crisp shifting and huge range – long steep climbs are no problem with this set up. Braking is also taken care of with Shimano SLX 4-piston calipers combined with 203/180mm rotors front and rear delivering plenty of power with outstanding modulation.A 2.5” Maxxis Minion DHF up front with a 2.4” DHRII at the back are a go-to pairing for loose and technical terrain. These tubeless ready, tan-wall tires are paired with WTB ST-i30 TCS rims on Shimano hubs which come pre-taped for tubeless set up with valves in the box – just add sealant to take advantage of the better grip and fewer punctures which come from ditching inner tubes.780mm bars paired with a 45mm stem keep the steering responsive but easy to control.
