The original SLR 8.9 Carbon was our most popular carbon road bike, and for good reason. We think the light, stiff and comfortable carbon frame designed with aerodynamic tube profiles and features is a perfect platform for all-round road riding, and the reviewers agreed with us. For most bike brands, 4.5 out of 5 reviews and comments like “Blimey, what a corker!” (road.cc) would be a reason to kick back and celebrate a job well done. However, at Boardman, we are always looking for ways we can push our bikes to the next level, and this is what we have done for the new SLR 8.9 Carbon. One of the only criticisms we could level at the old bike was the 10 speed gears – functional, but a little heavy and unrefined. With that in mind, we’ve upgraded the shifting to Shimano’s 11 speed R7000 105. Offering smooth gear changes, reduced weight, ergonomic design and all the trickle-down technology from Shimano’s flagship Dura-Ace groupset, 105 is a fantastic performer. Not only have we upgraded the bike’s gearing – but we’ve also worked with expert bike fitters to ensure the touchpoints on the bike are going to suit riders even better than before.FRAMESET:The new SLR 8.9c frame and fork use the same aerodynamic design and geometry as the top of the range SLR 9.6 and so delivers outstanding performance. The dropped seat stays and an integrated seat clamp help reduce drag and combine with carefully designed carbon fibre layup to deliver all day long comfort. This isn’t achieved at the expense of speed though. Using CFD and wind tunnel testing, our tube profiles deliver a significant aero boost compared to previous frames, and a stiff bottom bracket and light overall weight mean that the bike responds instantly when you put the power down. With clearance for up to 28mm tyres and hidden mudguard mounts, the SLR 8.9 Carbon can turn its hand to any type of road riding, whatever the weather.CONTACT POINTS:Working with Chris Boardman, data from hundreds of bike fits and insight from bike fit experts, we have made simple changes to the contact points of the SLR range. Using advanced pressure mapping and real-world testing we’ve shown that the Boardman SLR saddle will provide long-ride comfort for the majority of people. Bar width and crank length are also reduced vs previous bikes to make sure they are suited to the fit needs of real cyclists, not just based on old traditions. These changes also reduce the rider’s frontal area, which has been wind tunnel tested to reduce drag, meaning less effort required for the same speed.Key Features: Shimano 105 11 speed shifters and derailleurs ensure crisp and easy gear changes, A compact 50/34 chainset with 11-30 cassette offers a wide spread of gears for climbing and descending, Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Graphene 2.0 tyres combine great grip with puncture protection and low rolling resistance, Boardman SLR Wheels are tubeless-ready, so can be easily upgraded to run without tubes, Tektro R315 long drop brakes give clearance for up to 28mm tyres, or to run mudguards with 25mm.

The ADV 8.9 might just be the best value for money bike we have ever made, given that it’s essentially 2 bikes for the price of 1. It’s equally at home exploring hidden bridleways and fire roads as it is clocking up miles on potholed commutes or long sportives.A triple-butted 6061 aluminium frame with hidden welds, and a full carbon fork with tapered steerer, with thru-axles at both ends, make up the heart of the bike. Blending comfort and control without compromising efficiency or sacrificing precise handling – this is an ideal platform to build the perfect all-road bike around. The ADV takes inspiration from the MTB world with its geometry – trail bikes have become more capable as top tubes have got longer and slacker, and this is passed onto the ADV. We’ve kept the top tubes long and slackened the head angle versus our road bikes, which gives a confidence-inspiring ride on loose surfaces, but without compromising body position for road riding. A slightly taller front end and a shortened stem keep the bars close to hand and sharpen up steering response.Shimano’s 2x10 speed GRX adventure bike groupset has a wide range of gears with a 48-32 FSA chainset and 11-36 cassette, perfect for steep climbs. The GRX hydraulic brake levers are designed to offer better power braking from the tops and are fitted to a flared handlebar that is wider at the bottom than the top, giving great control when you’re descending on the drops. With 38mm Schwalbe G-One tubeless-ready tyres, there’s plenty of fast-rolling grip available too.Completing the package are mounts for full-length mudguards and a pannier rack, adding the versatility for commuting, touring or winter road riding on top of the off-road smiles the ADV 8.9 delivers.Light but strong aluminium frame and tapered carbon fork give great comfort and control on and off-road,10 Speed Shimano GRX groupset is designed specifically for adventure riding with wide gear range and a “clutch” rear mech to limit chain slap,Powerful Shimano Hydraulic disc brakes ensure maximum control in all conditions,Schwalbe G-One All Round 38mm tyres combine off-road grip, low rolling resistance and added comfort – perfect for exploring anywhere,Boardman ADV wheels and Schwalbe tyres are tubeless-ready – easy to upgrade to run without tubes,Mudguard and pannier rack mounts offer additional flexibility.

The SLR range are perfect all-round road bikes. They feature a lightweight frame design and carbon lay up which offers a fantastic blend of power transfer and comfort and has been aero-optimised to deliver race winning speed. This is combined with a geometry which encourages long days exploring without sitting up tall in the wind. The SLR 9.6 is visually stunning, with the looks to keep up with its rapid performance.Frameset:In most situations, aerodynamic drag limits a rider’s speed rather than fighting gravity. The SLR frameset is optimised for aerodynamic performance without adding weight or compromising the ride quality. Our wind-tunnel proven tube profiles minimise separation of airflow, resulting in lower aerodynamic drag. The SLR’s geometry strikes a balance between a long and low race position and an upright, endurance set up. The frame itself has been designed with comfort in mind to. Thin, dropped seat stays and a slim legged fork absorb road imperfections without compromising on the lateral stiffness required to corner quickly and confidently. The SLR focusses on efficiency. Forwards, Faster, Further - three words that encapsulate the Boardman ethos and influence every product Boardman have made. These three words represent the vast spectrum of our rider's cycling ambitions and goals, which Boardman want to support them in achieving, however big or small they are. When it comes to riding bikes, kids are constantly pushing forwards, riding faster and exploring further. So when designing our first full range of junior bikes, Boardman have put Forwards, Faster, Further on each bike to keep the childlike joy and freedom of pushing the boundaries on a bike at the front of our minds. The JNR range comprises six models, each with the goal of getting kids outside, cycling and exploring whilst supporting their developmental progression. From those first freewheeling forward movements on the 12" balance bike to the pride of mastering pedalling and going faster than before on the 20", to a family adventure venturing further on the 26", we've carefully considered every aspect of each bike's fit and function. Function hasn't come at the expense of form though, hidden welds and premium metallic paint finishes help the bikes to look as good as they ride. Our goal is to ensure that the simple act (after some practice) of riding a Boardman JNR is as fun and empowering as possible. Boardman beginnings, providing little ones with the cycling foundations they can build on as they grow and gain confidence. As with all the JNR models, quality is key and always starts with the frame. The small yet perfectly formed triple-butted aluminium frame and fork keep weight low, and the single down tube construction upfront allows greater standover clearance for those finding their feet astride two wheels. Wide, fast-rolling tyres reduce bumps and vibration to build confidence, and as this grows and the speeds increase, the adjustable reach brake lever is designed for tiny hands to help even the smallest of speedsters to slow their roll. Inevitably toddlers get tired or distracted, and parents always end up having to carry the bike around. Having had experienced this, Boardman have included a simple carry handle in the back of the balance bike-sized saddle, making things comfy for both child and parent alike.
