The 4Forty MTB Helmet features a full hard-shell, the helmet's outer shell is bonded to the EPS foam liner, creating a tough and burly lid that can take the hard knocks of a life lived off-road. If you do come off the bike you want your helmet to stay in place and to this end, the 4Forty features Bell's Float Fit system lets you dial in the fit perfectly via the rear dial.
